Stay Hungry remained undefeated by winning one of three C$40,000 Metro eliminations for 2-year-old pacing colts at Mohawk on Saturday night. The son of Somebeachsomewhere followed a lively third-over trip before kicking into high gear in the stretch to score in 1:50 2/5, a career- and season's-best clocking. Stay Hungry was well-reserved through a hectic opening-half with drivers making multiple moves, including Scott Zeron, who left and then attacked with Lost In Time through fractions of 27 3/5, 55 2/5 and 1:22 4/5 as Shadow Moon attempted to keep the field at bay. In the homestretch Hayden Hanover kicked off of second-over cover and Doug McNair rallied widest with Stay Hungry to get the measure of the field.  Lost In Time, making his first Grand Circuit appearance, held dead-game for second, with Hayden Hanover joining the top pair in the final. Brad Grant and Irwin Samelman own Stay Hungry, who is trained by Tony Alagna. Pedro Hanover won for the fourth straight time in capturing the first elimination for driver Andrew McCarthy in 1:51 2/5. McCarthy worked out a perfect second-over trip, and when he sent the son of Somebeachsomewhere wide, the colt responded as he has over the last month with an easy victory. Springsteen, a 70-1 shot, rallied between horses for second, with Odds On Lauderdale and St Lads Neptune finishing in a dead heat for third. Brad Gray and Denise Guerriero own Pedro Hanover, who is trained by Andrew Harris. "He can really fly home," said McCarthy after the victory. Twin B Tuffenuff broke his maiden, capturing the last elimination for driver Brett Miller. The son of Rock N Roll Heaven went a rugged uncovered trip and scored decisively at 7-1 easily holding Taste Of History and Nutcracker Sweet at bay in a 1:51 1/5 clocking.  Steve Elliott trains Twin B Tuffenuff for owner Marvin Rounick. "He's been pacing vicious final halves from way back. I knew if I could get him close he would pace home," said Brett Miller about Twin B Tuffenuff. "He was on the right line in the stretch; if I can ever can him to go straight he'd go really fast." This is how the field will line up for next Saturday night's C$816,000 final: 1-St Lads Neptune 2-Stay Hungry 3-Twin B Tuffenuff 4-Pedro Hanover 5-Lost In Time 6-Nutcracker Sweet 7-Taste Of History 8-Odds On Lauderdale 9-Springsteen 10-Hayden Hanover AE-This Is The Plan
