Spot Play: MACS JACKPOT (4th)

Race 1

(1) WILD AND CRAZY GUY looks ready for this return based on his two qualifiers and he comes back at a reduced level here. (3) CASH FOR GOLD also gets class relief and figures highly, but his racing style often gets him in trouble. Maybe Drury will ask him for more earlier in the mile here. (8) STEPPIN OUT may try to take these down the road with the class drop. (9) AMITYVILLE LINDY will most likely be sitting last early but he can pass a few of these to take a share.

Race 2

(6) CANDLELIGHT DINNER has won every start easily so far and she picks up Miller here which obviously won't hurt; on top. (2) WORLD APART comes off a powerful win in the Geers at Tioga and she looks like the only real threat to the choice here. (1) HAPPY HANNAH was a very good 2nd to the choice last time. She has upside and should make the ticket here again. (4) MANHATTAN PLAY is improving in each start and merits a look for Tri and Super bets here.

Race 3

(1) BETTORS WESTERN has displayed top speed both early and late in his miles. He should be tough in here starting from the inside. (8) CLASSIC PRO went a phenomenal trip on the rim in the Nassagaweya. He's worth a long look here with Miller taking over the reins. (5) CALVIN K was just short last time after building a big lead. He can threaten here if he trips out. (4) ROCK THIS WAY blew by some winded leaders late to drive off and break his maiden at huge odds in a Grand Circuit race. He could be overbet off that win here that may have been more a product of trip than anything else.

Race 4

(7) MACS JACKPOT absolutely flew the last 1/16th of a mile to reach up for the win after getting backed up on dead cover in the Nassagaweya. I'll give him the nod to repeat off that impressive score. (5) IDEAL WHEEL was never put into the race last week, but after missing a month that start could serve as a perfect tightener for the Metro; beware. (2) OCEAN COLONY must be respected here off his strong win in the Geers. (4) DARLINGS DRAGON closed rapidly with the choice to just miss and has the look of the contender but it's hard to call that driver on top in this type of competition.

Race 5

(6) ERLE DALE N bounced back with a huge mile last week and bottomed out the field. The step up isn't that great here; call to repeat. (5) NIRVANA SEELSTER drops from the Preferred and he will no doubt get sent hard off the gate here. He is the main rival. (3) THE WAYFARING MAN has never been better. Respect his improving form. (8) JINS SHARK should be well tightened up now but this is a tough spot starting outside several other quick leavers; minor share predicted.

Race 6

(8) IDYLLIC BEACH has lived up to her high-end breeding so far and Gingras will likely try to control this race from the outset; top call. (4) FADE was game but no match for Candlelight Dinner last week. Her good early speed and excellent form should be respected in this spot. (1) AGENT Q is another with sharp early speed that is in with a good chance in this contentious heat. (2) OBVIOUS BLUE CHIP had no chance to rally when the pace accelerated last time. She is worth considering at a price here.

Race 7

(1) UNCLE BEN N had little chance in his last two starts from outer posts vs. better at Yonkers. Dave Miller and an inside post could be just what the doctor ordered for this gelding. (5) BUDDA BLUE CHIP is worth a look at a price moving to the middle of the gate here. He made some eye-catching moves in both his wins two and three starts back. (6) WAZZUP WAZZUP steps up off an easy win and he should be right in the thick of this. (3) BRINGHOME THEBLUE is in top form but he may find a couple of these too tough.

Race 8

(8) BETTORS DREAM went an insane trip last week, dueling all the way and he still managed to hold second at the wire. Picking up Tetrick here makes him the top choice in this field. (3) BLOOD LINE took a mark of 1:51 3/5 in his debut. He obviously has the speed to contend here. (5) R J P has yet to win but his potent late kick should play well here. (7) SOUTHWIND GENERAL looked great in his debut at Grand River but this is a big step up; your call.

Race 9

(4) TOM HILL was victim of circumstance last week when trying to rally off poor cover. He was airborne at the wire and was again an unlucky loser. Moving inside should see a more aggressive drive this time; top call. (1) ALL THE COOKIES rallied well last time now he picks up Gingras; look out. (2) BLAYDE HANOVER was beaten last week by a colt that keeps on winning regularly. He's not out of this. (8) SPORTS VISION has been lights out in his last two starts but figures to be rallying for one of the minor slots here racing against much better.

Race 10

(5) WALTZKING HANOVER was a game second to a classy winner at this level last week despite enduring a long uncovered trip. He should be tough in here off that mile. (1) BUGGER BRUISER will likely try to control things or sit the pocket here. Either way, he should be a threat with this draw. (2) SURPRISE HANOVER is in good form and should contend here, but he may get over bet off the quick last 1/4 in his most recent mile. (3) ST LADS LOTTO is another that benefits from an inside draw and should be able to work out a good trip.

Race 11

(4) SEMI AUTOMATIC returns to a 7-day cycle here and meets a group he fits better with; slight nod. (6) BEAST MODE was racing very well here early in the meet. He should appreciate the return home; using. (2) NVESTMENT BLUECHIP is likely the best one in here but he could get a conservative steer and become trip-dependent in this conditioned race. (7) POISONOUS is sharp but faces tougher here; for a slice. (10) PRINT MEDIA could get a boost from the barn change and sneak into the exotics at a price.
