Mohawk: Saturday 7/20 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 1

(7) WHEELING N DEALIN was defeated for the first time in his career last start. He still trotted a credible mile and I think he's very capable of a rebound effort. (6) FLANAGAN MEMORY has won two straight, including the Goodtimes Trot final. He's been racing at his best and that will likely continue. (8) APPOMATTOX comes out of the Antonacci barn and gets Zeron in the bike. He comes in this race off a winning note and scored a comfortable win last outing.

Race 2

(3) ANGIES LUCKY STAR is clearly the horse to beat and should be able to handle this group. There's no reason not to like her. (2) MOTOWN MUSCLE draws inside and posted a speedy win last week. She enjoys leaving the gate and that that will likely happen. (8) ORDERINGIN is a good option for the triactor. She comes out of Moreau's barn and has been top three in all four of her last starts.

Race 3

(3) LOVE CANAL draws inside and looks like she's queen of this division. Her victory last week was very convincing considering where she came from.  (2) PAN LUIS OBISPO finished a strong second with a good final quarter. She also gets the combination of Waples and McIntosh. (6) LEAVEUMLADY has a good record this season and is very versatile. She posted a :26 3/5 final quarter last week and now gets Tetrick in the bike.

Race 4

(6) CASIMIR JITTERBUG comes out of O'Sullivan's barn and drops in class. He should be even better now that he's on this circuit for a second straight week. (2) TOP GEAR draws inside and has a good record this season. He gets Waples in the bike and drops in class. (1) TWIN B IMPRESSIVE comes out of the Moreau barn, draws the rail and races a group that he's very capable of hitting the board against.

Race 5

(9) TOOCOOL FORSCHOOL will have to overcome the outside post, but he has terrific gate-speed and was an easy winner last start. His record speaks for itself this season. (3) MURMUR HANOVER was a winner last week in his elimination and appears to be in top form. He can only improve in just his fourth start of the campaign. (8) GOTTA SECRET hasn't missed the board yet in five starts this season and is very capable in here. He'll need a trip, but shows the speed and consistency.

Race 6

(10) ROCK ME AMASTREOS won in this class two starts ago, but will have to overcome the outside. He was timed in 1:49 4/5 last start and that should be quick enough to win. (6) MY MAN CHARLEY has terrific gate-speed and that will likely get utilized by Davis, Jr. He's been knocking on the door in his last two starts. (7) HILARIOUS HALO finished third last start with a :27 final quarter. With the right trip, he's a candidate for the triactor.

Race 7 - Maple Leaf Trot Final

(8) MARKET SHARE remains undefeated this season from two starts and was a convincing winner in his qualifier this past Saturday. It's hard not to put him on top with what he's accomplished both this year and last season. (2) MISTER HERBIE will likely take a lot of money in here with a good post and his record this season. He comes in fresh off a win and is the defending champion. (5) UNCLE PETER has the speed to be very effective in here and comes out of Takter's barn. He might offer a fair price.

Race 8

(1) ANDERLECHT gets major post relief compared to last week and at this class, it's hard to overlook him. He has the speed and should appreciate this lighter field. (6) KINDLY POET moves up in class, but he has the back-class and has won his last two of three starts. He's closing in on $1 million. (3) ASTOR draws well and has a good record this season. He's hit the board in his last three of four starts.

Race 9

(2) MACH IT SO was a comfortable winner last week and has a terrific win record this season. He also comes out of the Norman barn and has won two straight. (3) TARPON HANOVER was an impressive winner last week and now gets Jamieson in the bike. He started off the season slow, but now appears to be in top form. (4) WINDSONG JACK gets Tetrick in the bike, which is a plus. He's yet to win this season from three starts, but is a good option for the triactor.

Race 10 - Roses Are Red Final

(4) ANNDROVETTE loves to make speed on the front and that's exactly what she did last week. She's tough on the front and Tetrick returns to the bike. (3) DROP THE BALL is very versatile and has won her last two of three starts.  She likely will attract a lot of attention after last week's victory. (6) CAMILLE hasn't missed the board in her last four starts and comes out of Burke's barn. She's capable in here, but will need a trip.

Race 11

(1) MICHAELS POWER caught me by surprise last week with his victory. He got a perfect trip and capitalized. It took him three starts to find the wire, but looks like he's back to his old self. (9) CAMAES FELLOW has post nine and shows great gate-speed. He appears to race at his best when he's put into the race. (4) SPARKY MARK went tough fractions last week and tired late in the stretch. He was timed in 1:49 and shouldn't be overlooked in here.

Race 12

(2) ROAR draws inside and got interfered with last week. I'm going to overlook that line. He's very capable in here and won in 1:49 4/5 just two starts ago. (4) DRESS THE PART draws inside and comes out of McIntosh's barn. He continues to improve this season and is competitive in this class. (8) WARRAWEE NONSUCH won in a speedy time last start at Grand River and moves back onto this circuit. He will have to step up his game and should provide a price.
