Mohawk Racetrack: Friday 5/24 Analysis

Race 7 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: BEE A MAGICIAN (3rd)

Spot Play: LEAVEUMLADY (5th)

Race 1

(1) MUSCLE GEM draws inside and remains undefeated in four starts this season. He enjoys being on the front and remains at the same level that he won at last week. (10) HAMDALLA has been highly thought of by her trainer/driver Rekila. He made a miscue last week, which I'm going to overlook. If he can be well-positioned early, he's a major player. (2) WINDSONG IDOL finished second in this class last week. He draws much better and is capable of trotting a strong mile.

Race 2

(1) BEST IMPRESSIONS has won two straight to start the season and Wallace's barn has been very good this season. She draws inside and likely will be the favourite once again. (7) LITTLE BROWN MUG is also fresh off a win. She will likely race from behind and is a factor providing she's not too far back. (3) CANARY ISLAND didn't put in the best effort in her last two starts and I'm looking for a rebound effort. She's staked heavily and it's time she put forth a strong effort.

Race 3

(3) BEE A MAGICIAN is the obvious choice in this final after a punishing mile in her first start of the season. She might be one of the best female trotters we've seen in the past decade. She looks like she's two-seconds the best. (10) MOTOWN MUSCLE has finished second in her only two starts of the campaign. She continues to improve and if she's placed well off-the-gate, she's a good option to consider for the exactor. (2) ZORGWIJK NOVA draws well and will likely race from behind. She captured the other elimination last week and is a top contender for the triactor.

Race 4

(7) BEACH OF A TIME put forth a terrific effort last week to score the win. Davis, Jr. was confident enough to pull her early from the two hole at the three-quarter pole. She remains relatively at the same class and based on last week's effort should draw a lot of attention. (1) JETTIN JAMIE ships onto this circuit after a pair of wins at Balmoral. She draws well, has gate-speed and finished her miles very strong. (6) DREAMFAIR ECLIPSE enjoys using her patented off-the-pace kick and if she's not too far back at the head of the stretch, she's a major player. Her record this season speaks for itself.

Race 5

(1) LEAVEUMLADY is my spot play this evening. She's very lightly-raced and put in a solid performance last week despite finishing third. She just had the qualifier prior to last week and I feel she can improve in her second start this season. (3) PAN LUIS OBISPO caught many handicappers off guard last week with her winning effort. Waples used first-over tactics as she used a :27 final frame. She dropped major seconds from the week prior and comes from the McIntosh barn. (10) LOVE CANAL was the heavy favourite last week and didn't perform as expected. She wasn't steering the best and I was assume the connections will make an equipment change. She also has to overcome post 10.

Race 6

This is a tough race to predict, but (8) GUNGA WIN drops in class and this level is much better suited for him. He's trotted a pair of sub-1:56 miles in his last two starts and that should be quick enough to win. (6) REMSHEG JULIAN has won two straight races including a win last week on this circuit. He moves up in class, but shows terrific gate-speed and should be well positioned. (1) DOLCE DUCCI has a good record this season, draws inside and comes out of the Moreau barn. He's hit the board in two of his last three starts.

Race 7

(4) WAASMULA was timed in 1:51 3/5 in just her first start of the year last week. She paced home in :26 3/5 and drops in class. It appears (3) BAROCKEY either wins or misses the board. Her 7-0-0 record from 17 starts this season indicates that, but she also drops in class and based on last weeks final time and final quarter, she'll likely draw some attention. (8) DOCS HOPE closed very well last week to finish third in this class. She draws outside and enjoys racing from off-the-pace.

Race 8

(1) LOST IN PANSLATION was very impressive last week for second-time starter Stewart. He draws inside and remains at the same level. Any type of repeat effort and he's a winner. (5) JUDGE JON drops in class once again and this level suits him much better. He hasn't been at his best in recent starts, but hopefully he'll turnaround in this event. (8) SHIPPS XPECTANCY has quick gate-speed and has been knocking on the door at this level in his last number of starts. If you're playing the traictor, he's a good option.

Race 9

(7) ALPHADOODLE has been highly-touted by her trainer/driver Zeron and scored her seasonal debut in comfortable fashion. This level isn't much deeper and she certainly appears to be the horse to beat. (10) ANGIES LUCKY STAR moves into the Moreau barn after a terrific effort last week. She closed very well last week using a :27 3/5 to circle the field to finish second. She had a very good season last year and has started this year off very well. (1) FLANAGAN MEMORY won his qualifier by open lengths and race well last season. She'll make her 2013 debut and shows good gate-speed to be positioned well in the early going.

Race 10

(8) BIG MCDEAL is in top form after an impressive win last week. She used a :25 3/5 final frame to score the win. She draws the outside in this short field, but I still feel she's the horse to beat. (7) VOELZ HANOVER is the other top contender in this field. She won in this class last week and has been terrific since moving into the Johnson barn. (2) GOODBADANDDEUGLY N also comes out of the Johnson barn and draws inside. She raced well last week despite the trip and once again is capable of hitting the board.

Race 11

(2) LANESIDE LEXUS is a much better horse than she's been showing. She had a terrific season last year and hasn't come back to form yet. This might be the turnaround point and she might offer value. (7) LETS GO GET EM has won two-straight and moves up in class. She's very versatile and has enough speed to hit the board in here. (8) ROBIN CRUISER will make her third start on this circuit and I think she'll be better. She did all the work last week before fading to fourth. With a cleaner trip, she's a threat for MacDonell.

Race 12

This is a wide-open affair, but (1) PRECIOUS CAMMILL will make her second start of the season and I think she'll be much better. She's back on a seven-day rotation and draws inside. (3) BOAT HOUSE ROW draws inside and will look for a tip. This is not a deep field and if she gets the right off-the-pace trip, she's capable. I'm price shopping with her. (5) EVA B FAST CARS has a good record this season and went a speedy mile at Western Fair last week. She moves onto this circuit and comes from a high percentage trainer.
