Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: SOME POWER (2nd)

Spot Play: P L HOUDINI (1st)

Race 1

(5) P L HOUDINI shows flashes of quick speed, draws in the middle of the gate and should offer a price. He's in search of his first career win in this formless field. (8) TEQUILA HAZE shows quick speed in his most recent and gets Filion aboard. (6) RUB THE GENIE was a game second in his most recent and will aim for a similar trip from a good post.

Race 2

(5) SOME POWER comes from the Coleman barn, drops out of the Champlain and is due for his first career win. (3) AMORA BEACH has all kinds of speed to offer for Menary. He comes out of the Metro final, draws better and will offer a short price. (7) THE SPY will make his fourth career start and enters the Gillis barn. He's versatile and a good option for the triactor.

Race 3

(5) P L FANTASTIC is fresh off an open length qualifying score in a speedy time. He's worth a look in his debut on this circuit. (10) STANDING MY GROUND will need to overcome post 10, but she's been a different horse in each of her last three. (4) TIME TO QUIT comes from the Auciello barn and has finished second in each of his last two. He moves up in class, but shows the speed and has a good record this season.

Race 4

(8) THE BATTLE BEGINS put forth his best effort of his career last week with a 1:52 4/5 effort to finish third. A repeat effort should make him a top threat. (5) CLASSY HILL comes from the Alagna barn, closed well last week in his career debut and can only improve this week. (6) MARACASSO has been knocking on the door in each of his last couple of starts, draws in the middle of the gate and should offer a fair price.

Race 5

(4) I WONDER WHY has won two of her last three, comes from the McIntosh barn and will offer a short price. (6) SOUTHWIND MISCHIEF comes from the Coleman barn, drops out of the Champlain and is a top threat in this class. (9) DANCIN CAROLL gets major class relief in here for trainer Alagna. The talented filly will need to overcome the outside, but was a game second two back.

Race 6

(6) WHISKEY TAX offered a short price last week and failed to win. I'll try him this week with his back class and hope for a better trip. (8) FORK has hit the board in two of his last three starts, comes from the Baillargeon barn and gets a better post this week in the same class. (3) BUDDY HALLY has been much better in his last two starts, including a new career best last week.

Race 7

(3) WATERSIDE LIGHT was a winner two back and was a game third in his most recent in 1:51 4/5. A repeat effort should be quick enough to win this dash. (10) RANSON DEMAND will need to overcome post 10, but has terrific speed. He has a good record this season despite no wins. (8) KING LEONIDAS was a winner by open lengths in his most recent and now moves onto this circuit. Jamieson in the bike will influence the price.

Race 8

(6) SPORTS CHIC hasn't been worse than second in each of her seven career starts and looks like the filly to beat in here. (9) SOLAR SISTER has been very consistent this season, comes from the McNair barn and has just shy of $100K banked this season. (3) COWGIRL TOUGH suffered a troubled trip last week, but was racing strong two and three starts ago. She draws inside and continues to improve in each outing.

Race 9

(3) SWAN IN A MILLION comes from the Jones barn and suffered defeat for the first time in four starts last week. He's capable of a bounce back effort with his back class. (6) DAYLON MAGICIAN was the winner last week in this class and can't be overlooked. (9) NORTHERN VICTORY has been much better in each of his last four starts. He was a game second last week at this level and a good triactor option.

Race 10

(5) SLIP INTO GLIDE drops in class once again for trainer Baillargeon and begins in the middle of the gate. He's hard to overlook with his back class. (1) INTENSE AMERICA was a winner last week in the debut for conditioner Dion. She's capable of the class jump with the rail. (4) NOWUCIT NOWUDONT qualified well for trainer Johnson and might offer a price in this dash. He has back class, a good post and Waples in the bike.

Race 11

(4) BAHAMA BAY moves into the Johnson barn and that's the main reason for my selection. (7) TEA PARTY PATRIOT made a miscue last week in this class and is capable of a bounce back effort. (9) LISCLOON comes from the Brealey barn and has been much better in a recent effort. He has the speed and good overall record this season.
