Spot Play: PURE KEMP (2nd)

Race 1

(9) MUSCLES FOR LIFE had big speed last week in what should serve as a perfect tightener for this Grassroots dash. He returns quicker here and note he won in this type of company two starts back. (2) HOLIDAY PARTY has been on a real roll with six straight wins since June 16th and he is sure to be a threat here. (7) UNITITALIANO BI could show marked improvement here at a price in his third start of the year. (1) DEFI NORMAND should get a good trip here and he is capable of bettering this prediction.

Race 2

(5) PURE KEMP raced decently last week in the first leg of this series, but more importantly, she got a clean line. Expect a more aggressive steer this time. (8) DREAM TOGETHER was a sharp winner last week and she's the one to beat. (4) THE ERM has failed to hold on late in both starts despite getting little pressure. A change in racing style would not be a shock here. (2) SOUTHWIND TESLA stayed trotting foe the first time last week and took a share. She could be right there this time if she minds her manners.

Race 3

(3) GOLDEN SON continues to roll and will be tough to beat here - albeit at a short price. (2) P L JERICO was a narrow loser to a sharp shipper last week; using. (8) LEGGO LOVER has been solid out of town. He could add some value to Tri and Super bets here. (4) MONOPOLY can threaten if he stays trotting this time.

Race 4

(2) OBVIOUS BLUE CHIP - a $35K Harrisburg sale buy - looks ready to roll for a barn that has done well at this meet. (6) JUST TOO SPOILED flew home in her second start and is the main danger. (4) WICKED HILL, a homebred, cranked it up a bit in her August 2nd qualifier and isn't out of this. (9) GRANNY PANTS is the lone winner in the field. She is worth a look for Tri and Super bets.

Race 5

(5) WARAWEE ROO was passively driven last time vs. non-winners of three in what should be a perfect tightener for this Grassroots race; top call. (7) CHESTNUT SCHOFIELD has raced well vs. Grassroots company and may be a good price here. (8) DYNAMIC EDGE should hit the ticket if he doesn't break. (4) MASS BALANCE is capable of filling one of the lower exotic rungs here.

Race 6

(2) WILD ZINGER unleashed an impressive late rush in his debut. If he moves earlier here, he should graduate. (1) SIR GALAHAD showed promise in his lone start last year. He could do some damage here off the shelf. (4) TOY COP gets major post relief and he can be a lot closer here. (5) SOUTHWIND SAVAGE debuts for new connections and is worth a look here.

Race 7

(9) JLS BAD MOON RISIN's only good recent starts have come in Grassroots races. I'll take a stab with him in a wide-open tilt. (1) MUSCLES BOUND has shown some life in his last two starts and is worth including here. (2) MIDNIGHT TOKER is getting closer and wouldn't be a big shock in this field. (6) MATZA MAN is capable, but the final 1/4 of his qualifier is a bit concerning.

Race 8

(7) ETRUSCAN HANOVER was 1/2 a stride short last week. He is sharp and dangerous and will likely get asked for his best earlier in the mile here. (6) FEARLESS MAN has one effective racing style. He will have to be caught. (1) WHISKEY TAX could trip out in the pocket here; beware. (5) OLYMPIC SON looks like he is improving again and is another in with a shot here.

Race 9

(5) HEZA WORKOF ART made two early moves on his way to a sharp win on Industry Day at Grand River over a decent field. He can continue his winning ways here. (3) BLAYDE HANOVER threw in a clunker last time when something was amiss. He is capable of much better. (1) MOHEGAN BLUE CHIP steps up into non-winners of three but he should be able to take a share here. (2) BIG BANG BOOM is another that can get a good trip starting from the inside and take a share.

Race 10

(3) GONNA FLY had a couple of long trips at Hanover in the Dream of Glory series. He should like returning to the big track here; top call. (2) GEORGIES POCKETS has won two Grassroots races in a row but he also hasn't raced in almost a month. He looks best but may come up a bit short here. (6) AGENT DINOZZO was patiently-driven to a maiden win last time. If he stays flat again, he should share here. (1) ZLATAN is hard to like on top, but he can make the ticket. (8) THE LAND SHARK has a solid record and should share if he can get a spot near the front early.
