Mohawk: Monday 7/29 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: LUCAN HANOVER (10th)

Spot Play: STOMPIN TOM CREEK (12th)

Race 1

This is a wide-open tilt, but (6) VIVA BAYAMA raced very well in her career debut last start with a good final frame. She should be even better in her second start and on the bigger track. (5) MYSTICAL WISHES has terrific gate-speed and appears ready for her career debut. She'll need a trip, but looks like she's capable. (7) MUSCLE MANNEQUIN got a good trip in her latest and should be even better this week. She has the potential to drop seconds.

Race 2

(5) LENNY MAC comes out of the McIntosh barn and hasn't missed the board yet in two career starts. She's a logical option in here. (7) WINGS OF BALLYKEEL comes out of the Moreau barn and raced very well last start, coming from off-the-pace. I admire her :27 4/5 final quarter two starts ago. (6) JAYPORT PRINCESS enjoys being put into the race and is a contender in here. She's versatile, has the speed and comes from a good trotting trainer.

Race 3

(3) MASS APPEAL draws well and did all of the work on the front end last week before settling for second. The same trip will likely be applied. (8) EMERALD BLING got a terrific trip last start and finished her mile off well. She should be that much better on the bigger surface. (7) PLEASE OKAY comes out of the Bax barn and that's the main reason for my selection. He's a top trotting trainer and this filly drops out of the Gold division into the Grassroots.

Race 4

(6) BURNIN MONEY finished fifth against the top trotter in the sport in the Maple Leaf Trot and now faces much easier company. He's the horse to beat based on the class drop. (5) WHISKEY TAX finished second in the Hambletonian a few years ago, before sustaining an injury. He's back now after four qualifiers and appears ready. (8) WATKINS comes out of the Preferred and into this class. He also comes out of Moreau's barn and should appreciate the class drop.

Race 5

(8) APPLE A DAY went a tough trip last start. She won the week prior and is worth another look. (4) WARHORSE draws well and finished a strong second, beaten only a nose, for the win. He may provide a price like last week. (1) TEX gets the rail and was timed in 1:52 4/5 in his latest. Mayotte can dictate the correct trip from the rail.

Race 6

(5) MUSCLE GIRL is undefeated in two starts so far in her career and looks like the horse to beat. She enjoys being on the front and has terrific gate-speed. (4) JAMANDRA if fresh off a win and is a good option for the exactor. She continues to improve and drop time. (2) JUST CALL ME LADY draws the two-hole and hasn't missed the board in all three starts this season. She's certainly a threat in here.

Race 7

(9) ARI ALLSTAR did all the work on the front last week en route to a 1:52 4/5 score. He comes from top connections and is the horse to beat in here. (7) FOR A BETTER TIME comes out of the Coleman barn and that's the main reason for my selection. He'll have to step up, but is worth a look. (3) UP N AT IT draws inside and raced very well in his latest. He was timed in 1:54 1/4 and home in :26 4/5.

Race 8

(8) STAR RUFFNREADY has only won once from 16 starts this season, but from in class. It's been months since he's been this low in the condition and should benefit from that. (6) BRUCE THE BRAVE also drops in class and is a good option for second. He shows the speed and enjoys racing from off-the-pace. I just hope he doesn't get away too far back. (5) MAJESTIC TAGLET is fresh off a win, moves up in class, but this level isn't much deeper. Lalonde's barn has also been very good in 2013.

Race 9

(8) CHELSEAS CHANCE is a perfect two-for-two to start her career and comes out of McIntosh's barn. Her latest win was very impressive. (5) ERIN HALL has won two of three career starts and is a top threat in here. She also comes out of Jamieson's barn, which will only decrease her price. (10) DIAMONDS FOR LIFE hasn't missed the board in two starts and comes from a top barn. Even with a post 10 start, she's a contender with her terrific gate-speed.

Race 10

(5) LUCAN HANOVER is the horse to beat in this final after a pair of convincing wins in the two preliminary legs. He draws well and will be the favourite. (6) MACH SET GO captured the other division last week and is coming into this final in top form. He's a very good option for the exactor. (9) BURNING SHORE will have to overcome the outside post, but has terrific gate-speed. He's got a great record this season and hasn't missed the top three in many weeks.

Race 11

(2) VALLEY GLIDER draws inside, comes out of Maxwell's barn and is due for a win this season. He's been knocking on the door and his first seasonal win could come in here. (7) SIR WILLIAM has finished second in six of seven career starts. He's very versatile and a good option to consider. (3) BWT TAJ raced very well last start after being parked the entire mile. He finished third in a good time and draws inside.

Race 12

(5) STOMPIN TOM CREEK is fresh off a win and has a good record this season. He makes the move back onto this circuit, but has proven to be competitive. (2) EMERALD LEXUS draws inside and was recently timed in 1:51. That type of effort makes him a threat. (4) B LO ZERO also draws well and comes out of Demers barn. He'll need a trip, but is very versatile and shows the speed.
