Mohawk: Monday 7/1 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: MAVEN (2nd)

Spot Play: WITCH DALI (8th)

Race 1

(3) NEFERTITI BLUECHIP draws inside, comes out of Darling's barn and scored an easy win last week in her career debut. That sets her up well in here. (7) SEXY AND I KNOWIT will make her first career start after a pair of qualifiers. She qualified well over a 'Good' track and a looks like she can drop even more time. (1) GOLDIES MACH gets post one and won her qualifier last week. She'll have to drop more time, but is capable of hitting the triactor.

Race 2

(5) MAVEN has been the queen of this division so far this season. She's undefeated in three starts and clearly the one to beat. (3) BEATGOESON HANOVER draws inside and was very impressive in her qualifier last week. She'll look for a rebound effort following her disappointing effort on June 7. (1) BAX OF LIFE is very trip-dependant, but gets post one and has terrific closing speed. She's trotted home in sub-:28 in each of her last four starts.

Race 3

(9) MACHAROUNDTHECLOCK raced very well last week considering she got away tenth and paced in 1:52. I admire her :26 2/5 final frame and that sets her up very well in here. I think she'll be more aggressively driven. (8) BEST IMPRESSIONS won last week and has a very good record this season. She has enough speed and gets Jamieson in the bike. (3) PARADE ROUTE will have to step up her game, but she's been on the right track this season. She's been very consistent and is a good option for the triactor.

Race 4

(6) SCOTT ROCKS certainly has the speed to win this race, but hasn't raced since May 27, which is a concern. If he's on his game, I think he's the best. (3) MCKINNEY has paced in sub-1:52 in each of his last two starts. He draws inside and comes out of Moreau's barn. (10) NICKLE BAG has won two straight and moves up in class. He's displayed enough speed to be very competitive in here, but will need a trip from the outside.

Race 5

(4) BULLET has won two straight and remains at the same level as last week. He's on top of his game right now, gets Jamieson in the bike and likely won't offer a price. (7) STAR RUFFNREADY drops in class and should be much better suited in here. Speed isn't an issue with him, but he'll need the right trip. (6) GO GO RED MARTY has been very consistent this season and remains in this class. He's a must have on the triactor and Pick 4 ticket.

Race 6

(8) ALIBI SEELSTER scored an eye-catching victory in gate-to-wire fashion in her career debut. Darling is a noted trainer with young horses and she's a top candidate in here. (3) PORSCHE SEELSTER finished second to ALIBI SEELSTER last start and likely won't offer the same 49-1 odds. She draws inside and very capable. (5) RODENA comes out of Alagna's barn and should be able to drop more time off her qualifying sessions. I like the Alagna/McNair angle.

Race 7

(5) JETTIN JAMIE comes out of the Fan Hanover final and now faces a much easier group. She appears to race at her best when she's put into the race and has a good record this season. (7) UPFRONTWHOSURLADY is fresh off a win at high odds and will have to step up even more in this dash. She does come out of the Gillis barn and has been much better since arriving in his stable. (3) JAN IT JACKSON draws much better compared to last week and back racing against fillies of the same age. She won at this level just two starts ago.

Race 8

(2) WITCH DALI qualified well at The Meadowlands and now moves onto this circuit. She draws inside, has the speed and comes out of Alagna's barn. (7) BOOK BABE has won both her qualifiers and appears to enjoy racing on the front-end. She comes from a high percentage trainer and should fare well on this circuit. (8) SOMEBAYSOMEWHERE should improve this week as this marks her second career start and more experience. She comes out of Menary's barn who has a good reputation with young horses.

Race 9

(1) MISTER HERBIE returns home after the Cutler final where he finished a disappointing ninth. He's a much better horse than that, but hasn't raced since that May 18 line, which is a concern. (3) UNDERCOVER STRIKE draws well and was recently timed in 1:51 4/5. He races against an easier field in here. (10) OPENING NIGHT moves into the Norman barn and will have to overcome the outside. He's versatile and has the speed to be very competitive in here.

Race 10

(1) LOVE CANAL raced very well in the Fan Hanover and likely will be the favourite in here. This is an easier field and draws the rail. (4) PAN LUIS OBISPO has only missed the board once in five starts this season and has proven to be very competitive in this class. She also gets the McIntosh/Waples combination in her favour. (6) LEAVUMLADY has raced very well this season and was won two straight. She will have to step up her game, but there's no reason why she can't.

Race 11

(5) CEDAR DOVE has only raced three times this season and raced very well in her latest. I think she's due to win and after last week's terrific effort, I think she's the one to beat. (2) REAL BABE draws inside and has hit the board in nine of 11 starts this season. She also comes out of Harder's barn, which has been very good this season. (3) PERSONAL STYLE made a costly miscue in the Armbro Flight final and will look for a rebound effort. She won her elimination and is very capable in here.

Race 12

(4) SPEED AGAIN is at the bottom class on this circuit and is overdue for a win. He's winless in 16 starts this season and was timed in 1:49 4/5 just two starts ago. (3) SHIFTIN GEARTOGEAR has hit the board in each of his last two starts and draws inside. The addition of lasix has appeared to help. (9) KINDLY POET has hit the board in two of his last three starts and has a ton of back-class to his credit. He gets class relief and may still provide a price.

Race 13

(6) OK FABULOUS moves into the Moreau barn and will look for his second win of the season. He has the speed and enjoys being put into the race. (4) WINDSONG JOKER hasn't hit the board in two starts this season, but paced home in :27 in his latest. He continues to improve and should be effective in here. (3) CAN HE GO draws well, but will need a trip. He should provide a fair price for Waples and Austin.
