Mohawk: Monday 10/7 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: MARCO DE VIE (4th)

Spot Play: BOP TOO THE TOP (2nd)

Race 1

(4) SAMIRA HANOVER draws well and has won two of her last three starts. She most recently won from post 10, has gate-speed and is a logical choice. (8) LEGZY is fresh off a victory in the OSS Grassroots final. She comes out of Fellows' barn and certainly has enough trot to be a key factor in this event. (3) WATCH THE RHYTHM draws inside, comes out of Alagna's barn and has the quickest speed badge this year in this field.

Race 2

(7) BOP TOO THE TOP comes out of Bax's barn and raced very well last start to finish second. She's winless this season from 17 starts and is certainly due. (4) HUNTER VALLEY draws well and closed very well last week at extremely high odds. She's versatile and has been much better in her last two starts. (1) MS WARKENTIN draws inside and has hit the board in four of her last five starts. She'll need a trip and should provide a price.

Race 3

(1) WACO BRUISER almost found the wire first last start, but had to settle for second. That was a gritty first over effort and he should get a lot of respect in this field. (2) WEATHER HANOVER draws post two and raced very well last start considering it was his first career start. He gets major post relief and should drop more time. (5) SWISS BANK HANOVER has been racing fairly consistently in this level and has the potential to hit the board. He usually provides a price and that should continue.

Race 4

(1) MARCO DE VIE draws the rail and was recently timed in 1:51 2/5. He faces a much easier bunch and will be the favourite. (6) SURPRISE HANOVER has hit the board in each of his last two starts and has been pacing credible miles. He's versatile and a good option in here. (7) OK GALAHAD will likely offer a price and will need a trip. He draws outside once again and quick fractions will only benefit him.

Race 5

(2) P L DALEY comes out of the Preferred and gets major post relief. He draws inside and comes out of Montini's barn. (7) SMARTY PANTS will race for the third time for Moreau. She put in a sub-par effort last week and drops in class. (1) WHISKEY TAX gets the rail, drops in class and is a good option. He's hit the board in all three starts while in this class.

Race 6

(9) LENNON BLUE CHIP has been pacing the miles needed to win this race and has a lot of back class in his favour. (8) SLIGHT TOUCH moves into the Auciello barn and that's the main reason for my selection. He won his qualifier and looks like he's ready to take on stiffer competition. (4) ROETHBLISSBERGER has a good record this season, gets Jamieson in the bike and draws well. He races at his best when he's put into the race.

Race 7

(8) DAVIDS DREAM has a terrific record this season and won at this level just two starts ago. He's been very consistent this season and is a likely candidate. (9) SANTANNA ONE put in a terrific effort last week with a solid final quarter. He was timed in 1:51 3/5 and a repeat effort makes him a top threat. (4) NICKLE BAG finally draws inside after three outside posts and will likely make the most of it. He puts up a solid final quarter and should benefit from an inside trip.

Race 8

(8) SPECIAL JACKPOT is lightly raced this season, but shows potential. He qualified well and if he minds his manners, he's a good option. (6) ALLSTAR SEELSTER comes out of Darling's barn and draws much better. He's versatile and certainly has the speed to be a contender in this maiden class. (2) DRAVEN SEELSTER went to the back last start and closed well. He draws inside this week and will likely be placed forward.

Race 9

(3) WHITE SPORTSCOAT has a good record this season and posted a pair of sizzling final quarters in recent weeks. If he's not too far back, he's a top candidate. (6) AUCKLAND FLYER comes out of O'Sullvan's barn and should be much better given it's his third start in his barn. He's been closing well and a short field only helps. (1) I C D MOOLAH has hit the board in three of his last four starts and gets the rail. He has the speed and has been much better in the latter part of the season.

Race 10

(7) KNOWS NOTHING has won two straight and once again is a top threat in here. It's a short field once again, so Jamieson will likely try to steal cheap fractions on the front again. That was a terrific first start back for (6) SAN PAIL last week. It was a sprint home after a cheap half and the veteran should be much better in his second start. (3) SLIP INTO GLIDE won last start, moves up in class and is very versatile. Expect a price on him.

Race 11

(8) THORN IN YOUR SIDE has a terrific record this season and will debut for Auciello. He's classified right and likely won’t offer the same price as last week. (7) ALITTLEAINTENOUGH likely will be the post time favourite after posting three straight wins. He comes out of Johnson's barn and moves up in class. (5) TAURANGA comes out of O'Sullivan's barn and raced very well last week to finish second, by a neck. He has the speed, draws well and should offer a price.

Race 12

(8) DAPPER DENZIL has won three straight and now enters the Moreau barn. He's put back right in the same class and likely will be your favourite. (6) AMBLE OVER HANOVER finished second last start in this class and has hit the board in his last two of three starts. He comes out of McMaster's barn and gets Davis, Jr. back in the bike. (4) SHADOW BARAN is fresh off a win and moves into the Lalonde, Jr. stable. He jumps in class, but has the record this season.
