Mohawk: Horses to watch from September 19 - September 23

Thursday, September 19

WEST SIDE STORY (NW2) Just missed in front end try last time out getting nipped on the wire by a fast closing foe and will not get caught in next.

ILL BE THERE (NW5000) Chased the pacestting winner home in last with good speed but could not dent the margin. Next race or two could see him in the winner's circle.

ROCKNFLO (NW2FM) Left, tucked, saved to the lane, closed game enough as the two short priced favorite finished 1-2. Can pop if facing slightly weaker group.

COUNTRY DELIGHT (NW1/3YO) Came out of left field to win going away and scoring again is well within the bounds of possibility--and probability.

Friday, September 20

DREAM ROCKER (OntSS) Took his time to get going, rallied well the last three-eighths and finished full of trot (:27.2 last panel) but had too far to come as the favorite cruised home.

MUSCLE MATTERS (OntSS) Left well, grabbed the lead passing the quarter, yielded to  the winner's brush, chased him home with good speed and nearly nailed the tiring prohibitive favorite on the wire.

TOOCOOL FORSCHOOL (OntSS) Finished best but had to come from the back of the pack to get up for second and should be heard from in the future.

LIFETIME JEWEL (NW3FM) Paced through the lane in :26.4 and despite her fast finish had too much ground to make to get to the winner's circle--this time--but next time should be a charm.

Saturday, September 21

TRANSCENDING (NW26000) Sat buried on the rail to the lane, found room inside, finished with a rush and just missed the tiring winner.

MODERN XHIBIT (NW8000) Was buried on the lane, tipped, slid wide, found a route, closed strongly but was too late.

PANPERO FIRPO (Grassroots) Shocked the finalists at 16-1 with huge stretch rally and the :26.3 last panel was an eye opener.

BESTOFBEST HANOVER (PRF) Beaten favorite hit best stride too late but closed well. Should be along in time in next to atone for the hiccup.

Monday, September 23

RAMAS LAST SON (2YO) Came wide into the lane from the back of the pack and showed good speed to the wire.

JUSTA JET (NW8500/2YO) Finished like `just a jet' in last and will be heard from.\

INTENSE AMERICA (NW25000) Left well, tucked but was shuffled some when the leader tired, angled out heading home and closed well but had no shot.

BIG PAYOUT (NW8000) Left well for early position but was shuffled backas the lead changed a couple of times, tipped third over to the third panel, came home determinedly chasing the short priced favorite and would have been a `big payout' at 34-1.
