Mohawk: Horses to watch from Sept. 14 - Sept. 19

Email

Monday, September 14

BOW TIES N BOURBON (NW10000/2YO) was in traffic passing the quarter and wiped out by a breaker. Beaten favorite can atone immediately.

E L ROCK (NW4000) was parked to the lead and never looked back in huge winning effort.

CAJON LIGHTNING (NW2) roared home from a distant fourth over but was a step too late at 35-1.

GOTTI (NW1/2YO) left strong, set a pressed pace, dug in gamely while tiring and cannot be discounted in next.

Tuesday, September 15

SPIRIT SQUAD (2YOF) was gapping in the final turn, hit her stride, rallied into contention and gamed out her share.

ALL THAT SPARKLES (NW2) tucked, let the speed settle, brushed and crushed with more in store for her foes.

WHOSGOINGTOCATCHUS (NW1/2-3YO) left, yielded to the speedier leavers, pulled and brushed to command, set a good place and drew away.

STELL RESERVE (NW2) put in a good game uncovered effort in last but the well bet second choice pacesetter was too tough.

SHOE SHINE (NW2) got a bit of a shuffle along the way, cleared a little late but responded gamely to earn second. Beaten favorite would be no surprise if he atones in next.

Thursday, September 17

GONNA FLY (OntSS) was parked to a tuck, pulled coming to the half, ranged up uncovered, challenged the last quarter and tired. He could get lucky with some live cover.

SOUTHWIND SHANIA (OntSS) left to the top from the outside, set the pace under constant pressure from the odds-on favorite and tired in the lane.

DOUBLE OLIVES (NW2FM) came from the far side of the moon with huge stretch rally in last to score at hefty mutual and earns another look in next race or two.

NICE TRIP (NW1/2-3YOF) if you call third over a nice trip, she lived up to her name and finished fast to boot scoring as the second favorite. Another "nice trip" coming soon.

Friday, September 18

LOTSA MATZAH (NW9000FM) came wide in the final turn around bad cover and closed gamely but was outkicked by the late clearing but fast moving favorite.

REGAL LUCK (NW9000FM) rallied from far reaches of the galaxy to get up for 3rd and should have a better trip in next.

MAPLELEA (3YOF) finished full of pace from third over at 10-1 to take last and can not be discounted as she seeks still another victory.

LIGHTS GO OUT (NW6000FM) zipped around the oval in good order and was never in doubt. Should be able to turn the lights out on her foes again.

Saturday, September 19

WILD HONEY (Elegantimage) was parked the mile, got looped by the powerful winner, settled and rated uncovered on the rim, rallied in the lane and was a super second best.

THINKING OUT LOUD (NW7500) beaten favorite rallied wide and game from far back but the veteran pacesetting winner was too much tonight.

MCWICKED (PRF) just missed with huge rally from back of the pace. Beaten favorite should get it right next time out.

EVENIN OF PLEASURE (PRF) finished full of pace between horses in last and earns long look next race or two.

SOUTHWIND AMAZON (NW13000) left, tucked, improved to the pocket in the final turn, raged with pace but lacked the space. Cleared late inside but was outkicked by the wide and fast rally of the winner. A little racing luck should be enough to get him a win.
