Mohawk: Horses To Watch for June 7 - June 11

Email

Thursday, June 7

DANCEHALL MISTRESS (NW1/3YO) Had no shot from fifth over, followed the top two wide and chased them home. Should be along in time soon.

PHOENIX GOAL (NW2) Went down the road form post 10 at 70-1 and was nailed by the favorite on a front end tiring night.

SHEER GLIDE (NW2) Came uncovered and powered away from all. Another win seems quite possible.

YUMMY SUSHI (NW2FM) Sat willing but in a tight pocket. Never cleared but kept pace to the wire searching until the last steps.

Friday, June 8

ABBEY ROAD HANOVER (NW3FM) Have to give some respect to one of the two horses that managed to win on the front end last over a tiring track.

DAYLON MIRACLE (NW2) Left well, tucked, made an early move to the lead as the speed settled, met pressure and won impressively over a tiring oval.

CANADIAN WILDCAT (NW2) Was used to gain the lead, yielded, sat pocket to a tough foe and managed to hold with trot to finish third as the two favorites slugged it out.

SAND GESTURE (NW14500FM) Made the top, yielded and was shuffled a bit, pulled, made a gallant uncovered bid but faltered late over a tiring track. Beaten favorite might atone in next.

Saturday, June 9

IL MAGO (GOODTIMES) Had no shot from post eleven behind dull leavers, sat in to the lane, angled out, set down and came home quickly. Will be a serious threat with better trip.

WORLD AWAY (NW8000) Veteran was on the rail with nowhere to go. Seemed willing and should be a factor next few races.

ALSACE HANOVER (OPEN) Sat in with no room through the lane. Do not disregard in next.

POUVOIR DUHARIS (NW5000) Finished full of pace but had much too far to come from 4th over. Can take this kind at any time.

Monday, June 11

BETTORS GREEN (NW5700) Finished with good speed at 80-1 in last over a speed favoring track. May be able to knock out a win or two.

BEST EARS (NW3) Followed wide from the back of the pack and finished with a full head of steam. Beaten favorite was just too far back to get it done.

THETOADANDME (NW1) Rallied gamely from third over through the lane and gained too late on the short priced favorite. He won't be 46-1 in next.

STARE DOWN (NW2) Third best at 16-1 gives an idea of how tough the competition was. He left, tucked, pulled, rushed up, challenged the well trained and well driven leader while escorting the prohibitive favorite the last half, proved no match to them but gamely held the rest. He will find his own field.
