Mohawk: Horses to watch from June 24 - June 30

Email

Tuesday, June 24

SEE THE WIND (OntSS) was used to the lead, set a good clip, opened up but tired in the lane. Should be hard to beat in next race or two.

SWISS BAND HANOVER (NW2) left, took the lead, yielded and was shuffled, got stuck behind a breaker, had to leave the course and right himself but finished with pace when back in gear.

FIRE ON THE WATER (NW2500) was in heavy traffic with a ton of pace, took matters into his own hands, bulled clear and closed strongly to nail the top spot but was taken down.

LOVE DETECTIVE (OntSS) had poor cover, went wide to clear, had far to come but rallied with good speed to be second best to the prohibitive favorite.

Thursday, June 26

SPORTS CHIC (2YOF) put in a solid effort in last. She left and tucked, pulled uncovered near the half and chased the pace all the way to the wire but was second.

WARRAWEE PREFERRED (OntSS) was parked the mile in last racing third over, went wide in the final turn, rallied gamely and all out but ran out of track. The beaten favorite should be along in time in next outing.

RIVETING (NW2FM) finished well from third over but it was too far to come despite the :27 3/5 last panel.

PASSED DAT POINT (OntSS) was four wide and closing but was just too far back when he passed that point and missed the whole ball of wax by a neck. Beaten favorite has what it takes to atone.

Friday, June 27

WHISKEY TAX (PRF) was out early, yielded and was shuffled far back as the lead changed hands at least five times. Finished with trot and has to earn a look off that trip.

LIGHTS GO OUT (NW17500FM) flew home in :25 3/5 to score and should be able to take another.

SHADYS M THREE (NW5000FM) was absolutely buried to the stretch, tipped in traffic with pace between horses but had to alter course and lost any chance.

A REAL COMMITMENT (NW8000FM) tipped into the lane and closed a ton gamely rallying for 2nd.

Saturday, June 28

THE REV (NW2500) left, tucked, had great cover, tipped, rallied gamely but was nailed by the quick closing winner. Next time, he can get it done.

STRONG HOPE (NW4000) rallied gamely uncovered to get second and got close at the wire as the pacesetting winner tired. Has the grit to take home the gold.

GENESEE (CLM15000) was used hard getting by a stubborn pacesetter to gain the lead at the half, faced immediate pressure, refused to give it up, took the lead into the lane but could not hold off the fresher horses in the lane.

SANTANNA BLUE CHIP (NW9400) followed the wide flow and chased the winner home for a game second.

Monday, June 30

LUCK OF THE IRISH (2YO) had no shot from the post, raced at the back to the final turn, followed the winner's wide move, continued steadily and should get a win or two sooner than later.

DANIKA PATRICK (NW1/3YOF) was parked past the half for the lead, set a pressed pace once on the engine and gave way heading home in field dominated by top two finishers who closed from off the pace.

NORMSTRIKESFAME (NW2) finished high, wide and handsome from an impossible spot to get second best to impressive winner.

SHAMBALLA (NW2) closed with super fast pace from 4th over and passed a bunch of foes through the lane. Will nail some wins in near future.
