Mohawk: Horses to watch from June 1 to June 8

EmailMonday, June 1

P L GYRO (CLMHCP8/10000) followed wide from fifth over in last and just missed.

IDEAL SHADOW (CLMHCP20/30000) closed well from third over in most recent and earns a long look for next.

HLDONTGHTTOYURDRMS (NW12500) went down the road but could not last in most recent and could earn the nod if just a bit tighter.

WINDSONG GEANT (NW7500) came wide in the final turn, loomed heading home but flattened out early stretch.

Tuesday, June 2

MAC RAIDER (OntSS) took the lead, yielded, retook, tired late and was nailed on the wire.

NATURESCAPE (OntSS) beaten favorite sat the pocket, angled out, found room late and closed gamely but the winner had gotten a step ahead and made him pay.

STAR COVER (OntSS) left, tucked, pulled and brushed to the lead coming to the third panel, held gamely but the winner closed a ton and was just too much.

WINDSONG LIGHTNING (OntSS) was seemingly out of it a distant 4th over heading home but scooted home in 26 4/5 to win going away.

MACH CODE (OntSS) sat in buried to the lane, tipped and found a lane as the field spread, hit the engine and cruised powerfully to the wire.

Thursday, June 4

INFINITI AS (OntSS) brushed and crushed. Favorite won for fun and seems capable of repeat against same kind.

ETERNAL QUEST (OntSS) took the lead, yielded, retook, went down the road and won confidently. The `quest' for another victory seems well within the realm of possibility.

MUSCLE UP THE GOAL (OntSS) well bet favorite did not disappoint winning comfortably in a front-stepping effort and winning another seems like a goal he can fulfill.

TOP DOLLAR (OntSS) came from the back of the pack to pass them like they were standing still.

Friday, June 5

ARIELLA (NW2/3YOF) was tons the best in last and should take another for Zeron.

CHEEKIE (CLM15000FM) finsihed full of pace, gobbled up the field and won going away seeming to have plenty left for another go at it.

MOONLIT DANCE (NW2FM) was too huge coming through the lane to explain. Adjectives come up short when describing her going away romp.

HOPE FOR PADDY (NW14000FM) made an early brush to the lead, rallied gamely but was nailed in the last steps by the tripped-out surprise winner. Beaten favorite should be back on top in the next race or two.

ICOMMANDMYSPIRIT (NW8500FM) closed a ton flattening out in the late stages, but the beaten favorite had made a break before the start and trailed badly coming wide through the lane.

Saturday, June 6

BIG MOMENT (NW2) put in a solid performance in last but was unable to stall the revved-up odds-on winning favorite.

YOURE MAJESTIC (NW3) sat pocket, pounced when ready and was gone. Should take another soon.

PLATOON SEELSTER (NW3) closed best from an impossible spot. Can get lucky with right trip.

THINKING OUT LOUD (PRF) was a very creditable second best in last both on the board and on the track.

Monday, June 8

HE SAID (CLM15000) finished gamely and strong from an impossible spot but missed only a nose.

THE DUKE OF ZORRA (CLM15000) was parked the mile, challenged uncovered to the lane and tired.

DEES ROCKETMAN was out a long way, challenged the last quarter but was second best to the odds-on favorite.

NORTHERN VICTORY (NW18000) had to navigate through stretch traffic. Did it gamely and artfully but it was too much to ask. Should nail a win soon.
