Mohawk: Horses to watch from July 4 - July 8

Thursday, July 4

MASS OF DREAMS (OntSS) Left and was knocked very wide in turn one by a breaker, settled but was forced to come a long way uncovered. The beaten favorite was used hard in pursuit before tiring early stretch.

VALORSCROSS (OntSS) Followed wide from 4th over into the lane and closed stoutly over a speed favoring track.

MISS POPPYCOCK (NW1/3YOF) Young miss put in a good late closing effort from a no chance spot and seems capable of a win in near future.

URBANITE HANOVER (NW2) Chased the odds-on favorite home in game uncovered rally and never gave up.

Friday, July 5

TORCHES STAR (OntSS) Was in the pocket angling to get out only to badly bothered by a breaker losing any chance while appearing to be full of trot.

BEACH OF A TIME (NW2FM) Was used wide to clear traffic and gain the lead, set the pace under stern pressure, tired and bore out. Beaten favorite can atone with an improved trip.

REQUEST FOR PAROLE (TOWN PRO) Followed wide through the lane at 62- to miss by a half to quick closing winner. This one should be heard from in the next leg.

BRUSHSTROKES (NW5000FM) Charged home with such speed and determination that it is hard to imagine she doesn't have another one up her saddle blanket.

Saturday, July 6

SHIPPS XPECTANCY (CLMHCP15/20000) Absolutely blew away the competition in variant busting effort last time and she take another.

ROCK ME AMASTREOS (NW14000) Made a long move to come uncovered, challenged hard, could not clear, pressed to the lane and tired. Will be tough to deny on the lead.

ROCK ON MOE (NW16000) Cleared the pocket too late to launch best bid but finished full of pace to miss by a disappearing neck.

ORILLIA JOE (NW3) Seemed buried and beaten in the final turn, tipped, searched, found an inside route, rallied around traffic, skimmed the cones and scooted quickly to victory with such handy speed that a repeat seems highly likely.

Monday, July 8

MAGIC PEACH (NW2) Sat pocket, looked 2nd best at every call, rallied all out and was gaining on the tiring winner in the shadow of the wire.

ROLANDS SEEHORSE (CLM15000) Tucked turn one, sat to the lane, angled out, tipped wide, closed well and could be along in time soon.

TITUS SEELSTER (OntSS) Came wide into the stretch as the rain poured from the clouds and closed very well to be second best to the short priced favorite.

MASTER OF LAW (NW2) Sat near the rear to the lane, tipped out, swung wide and seemingly flew home at $.70-1 indicating he can do it again.
