Mohawk: Horses to watch for August 16 - August 19

Email

Thursday, August 16

GRINADIER (NW2FM) Split horses with solid finish at 77-1 in most recent and will earn more respect in next.

GOTTA SECRET (OntSS) Beaten favorite hit his best stride too late to get the dough but the Filion/Mareau connection will bounce back.

FLANAGAN MEMORY (OntSS) Made a three home win look easy. Left, tucked, pulled and brushed to the top, yielded for the pocket, tipped heading home and cruised home confidently.

MONTE CRISTO (CLMHCP12/15000) Was content to sit to early stretch, angled out under Rick Zeron guidance, found a route and knocked off all but the odds-on favorite.

Friday, August 17

BOSTONZ CREDIT (2YO) Launched a solid late bid but had too far to come. Beaten favorite should be the one to beat against most of own kind.

VOELZ HANOVER (NW20000FM) This beaten favorite trailed in the nine horse field to the stretch, followed wide, hit overdrive but the race had gotten away from her.

WORLD CUP (NW4) Closed wide and game but was nipped on the wire. The stretch rally would have beaten most.

MIBESTKEPTSECRET (NW8000FM) Rallied wide and game from the out of it in last and got up for second.

Saturday, August 18

KYLE MAJOR (NW8000) Closed strongest in the middle of the track at 43-1 and could be a `major' factor in next.

VEGAS VACATION (NASSAGAWEYA) Rallied gamely chasing the prohibitive favorite to the wire.

I LUV THE NITELIFE (ETERNALCAMNATION) Deserves a shout out for a three move victory. She left, tucked, pulled and brush, took the top, yielded for the pocket, pulled before the three-quarters and won with authority.

COOL ROCK (NW5000) Trailed to the lane, found enough rally to post a :26.2 last panel and has to be considered in next.

Monday, August 19

THEATRICAL SESSION (BRIDGER) Swung out in the final turn, came wide, closed and closed well to be second best on the board and on the track.

ROCKIN FINISH (NW3) Finished with a full head of steam closing in on the favorite in the late stages.

BAX OF LIFE (NW13000) Got in traffic trouble on the rail and had trouble finding room to show best stuff.

DUKE OF DONEGAL (NW2) Put in a game performance with a double move effort from post 10 but was nailed on the wire by the strong closing favorite.
