Mohawk: Horses to watch from August 12 - August 18

Tuesday, August 12

SHIPPS XPECTANCY (CLMHCP8/10000) rushed to the top and never looked back setting a quick clip and winning impressively.

WINGS OF BALLYKEEL (OntSS) sat in the pocket with just too much traffic to squeeze through and never had the chance to show her stuff.

EVEIL DUN CHAMPION (NW15000/3YO) was parked to the lead, yielded, got shuffled back, had to tip heading home and angle very wide before he had a chance to fire. Once in gear, his late rush had to be noticed.

REGAL BABE (NW60000/3-4YO) left to a tuck, pulled to the half, brushed to the lead, set a pressed pace, dug in gamely over the tiring track but was nailed on the wire.

Thurday, August 14

SHEER FLEX (NW2) closed as strong as a pacer through the lane in last to win going away.

CAVIART GRIFFIN (NW15000/3YO) put in a game uncovered effort challenging the pacesetting favorite and was second best.

WORLD PEACE (CLM15000) was used and abused in last. He got to the top and faced immediate pressure to the half, shoook off the challenger past the marker but had to deal with another fresher challlenger the last three-eighths. He gave it his all but tired and could not last. Any kind of racing luck could be all it takes.

Friday, August 15

HUNKOFBURNINLOVE (NW2) tipped in the final turn, rallied well from second over to be easily second best to the favorite.

BRUSHSTROKES (NW5000FM) followed the winner home with good pace and earns a look in next.

YORK SEELSTER (GRASSROOTS) beaten favorite put in a strong down the road effort from post ten in last but could not last.

SPORTSMANSHIP (GRASSROOTS) put in an amazing rally to catch the speedy pacesetter in latest and has to be respected.

FERRARI SENA (NW15000FM) went down the road and won impressively.

Saturday, August 16

ROETHBLISSBERGER (NW6000) made a strong uncovered rally to be second best to much-the-best favorite.

DANCIN HILL (3YO) finished with a full head of steam from the back of the pack in last and has to be given respect off that rally alone.

CHARMED LIFE (PRF) rallied wide in the final turn and into the lane, took the lead but was caught by flying winner.

DONAU (NW16000) won last but was taken down because he cut numerous cones in the final turn early stretch. Should make up for that soon.

DOUBLEDOWN GASS (NW15000) took off to the lead, met pressure the last quarter and gutted it out to the wire but it was not a good night for pacesetters.

Monday, August 18

BAD BUG (NW15000/3YO) was wide early, settled back to tuck, pulled uncovered to the half and challenged the last three-eighths in good try.

R RAISED EMOTIONS (NW9000) went down the road and drew away as the favorite tried to challenge the last

ABBIJADE HANOVER (2YOF) was in the pocket and shuffled when the lead changed, pulled and swung wide with game finish but had lost her best shot.
