Mohawk Harness: Horses To Watch for May 17 - May 21

Thursday, May 17

STRIKING FOREVER (NW2) Trotter was parked for the mile in last, prompted the pace to the stretch faltering in the shadow of the wire. A covered trip could be all it takes.

JUST A WHIZ (NW1FM) Got parked a long way to the lead, set a pressed pace and dug in gamely only to miss a neck to the pocket horse.

ABBEY ROAD HANOVER (NW2FM) Beaten favorite hit her best stride too late. Missed only a neck and a disappearing neck at that.

PHOENIX GOAL (OntS3YOF) Was victimized by a bad shuffle going to the third panel, rallied from a distant 4th over and should have a better trip in next.

Friday, May 18

WESTERN ALUMNI (CLMHCP12/15000) Finished full of pace but had too far to come. Might surprise in next race or two.

SWEET HEDGE (CLMHCP30/40000FM) Went down the road as far as she could from post 10 and was second best to well bet favorite.

INSTANT PHOTO (CLM12000) Got locked in the pocket with nowhere to go. Left the course in tight quarters heading home, searched through the lane but never cleared.

MUSCLEMAD (NW2) Left and was parked, challenged hard to the half and faded badly. A covered trip should lead to more success.

Saturday, May 19

SUNLAND DAKOTA (NW5000) Went down the road, got tested at the third panel, drew off as much the best in strong effort.

EXPRESS GLIDE (CLMHCP20/30000) Was rallying wide and appeared to have enough to make in horse race in the late stages but took a bad step. Beaten favorite gets a pass and another look.

BKS FELON (NW3) Absolutely crushed rivals with powerful stretch rally from back of the pack. Another win or two seem like a mute point or two or three.

MCARACAS (CLMHCP20/30000) Finished with pace at 75-1 in last and may have a surprise up his sleeve in near future.

Sunday, May 20

COCO BINO (NW1/3YO) Left, tucked, broke, too back, settled, tipped again heading home and proved best to the wire in game recovery. Should be a threat for a few races.

ALL READY HANOVER (NW2) Absolutely romped as the prohibitive favorite and should be able to winner another race or two.

REMORSE CODE (OntSNW1) Powered by the short priced favorite to win by increasing daylight. He won't be 15-1 again but he should be a major factor in next.

QUATAR BAYAMA (NW8000) Filion/Moreau connection continues to win no matter the track. This vet jogged in last and is always a threat.

Monday, May 21

CANADIAN WILDCAT (OntSS) Left well, tucked, pulled uncovered nearing the half, ranged to the leader, pressed the pace to the late stages but was held at bay while gamely second best.

ZEUS LIGHTNING (NW13000) Was pulling out of the three hole to make a move as the lead changed, got in a bit tight and broke, settled, came uncovered the last quarter but tired.

STAR RUFFNREADY (PRF) Was the victim of a bad shuffle getting stuck behind  a quitting horse, had to race fourth over. Stacked very wide into the lane and closed well but had lost any chance.

CRADABRA (OntSS) Left to the top, yielded and was shuffled, got jammed up badly and broke as a horse quit in front of him. Closed with trot and got up for third.

BUGSY MALONE (NW2) Got stuck in a bunch of traffic in the late stages last time out and it cost him a payday. May not have won but deserved a chance to rally.
