Mohawk: Friday 9/27 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: WAASMULA (7th)

Spot Play: TOUGH MAC (9th)

Race 1

(6) KINETIC KING is the obvious choice in here, but he'll have to mind his manners. Speed is not an issue, but has a tendency to make breaks. (2) QUIT SMOKING NOW draws inside and has been much better in his last two starts. He closes very well and should get an inside trip. (9) MAGIC LINDY is a quality mare, but will have to overcome post nine. She has gate-speed and certainly has displayed the speed.

Race 2

(1) A LITTLE STARTRUK draws inside and is fresh off a win from post 10. She gets the rail in here, moves up in class and comes from top connections. (7) UNIQUE ROCK N ROLL moves into the Coleman barn, which will decrease her price. She's versatile and likely won't offer a price. (2) BROOKDALE SHADOW gets post two and has a terrific record this season. She draws much better this week and comes out of Moore's barn.

Race 3

(5) MAGIC WILL WORK has won five of her last six starts and had tremendous gate-speed. She won in this class last week as the favourite and that will likely occur again. (6) SAMARTINA hit the board last week in this class and certainly shows the speed to belong in here. She also enjoys leaving the gate. (7) JULIET comes out of the Steacy barn and has won two of her last three starts. She moves up in class, but is a good option for third.

Race 4

(3) SHANGHAI MIMI has a terrific record this season and moves onto this circuit. She comes out of Steacy's barn and may provide a price. (4) LYONS SWEETIE has been no worse than second in three of her last four starts. (9) ANGELS DELIGHT put in a sub-par effort last start, but won two straight prior. She also gets the combination of Waples/McIntosh.

Race 5

(8) SOMBRERO HALL drops in class and that's the main reason for my selection. He's a much better horse than he's been showing. (2) PROTEGE SEELSTER draws inside and comes out of Johnson's barn. This race is always tough to predict, but he's a good option. (1) DUKE OF DONEGAL gets the rail and f he minds his manners, he's a good option. It's just a matter of time before he puts it all together.

Race 6

(5) KAPTAIN KELLI moves back into this circuit and at a level where she won at two starts ago, but was placed tenth. She has a good win record and is very capable. (2) KENDAL DELILAH draws inside, has terrific gate-speed and has an overall terrific record this season. (8) WARRAWEE LIMELIGHT had some time off and is set for a return. She has a good record this season and Fellows' barn has been much better in recent weeks.

Race 7

(7) WAASMULA is my top pick in here based on the class drop. She's very capable, but trip dependant. (2) EIGHTHUNDOLARBILL comes out of the Coleman barn and won in this class the last time she contested in it. She drops into this level and is a top threat. (8) DOCS HOPE was parked the mile last week and was still a going away winner. The class jump shouldn't bother her.

Race 8

(1) WANNA ROCK N ROLL comes out of the Coleman barn, draws inside and gets major class relief. She does face off against older horses, but has the speed. (3) ROCKNFLO is a good option in here to consider. He enjoys being put into the race, draws well and has hit the board in five of her last six starts. (9)COUNTRY DELIGHT is a perfect one-for-one this season for trainer Gillis and raced tremendous in her career debut. There's a lot to like about her.

Race 9

(3) TOUGH MAC gets my top pick in here based on Waples being in the bike. (4) WHIPLASH has one win from two starts this season and exploded in deep stretch last week to score the win. He remains at the same level, but won't offer the same price. (5) BACK TO PEACE continues to provide high odds and is capable of hitting the triactor ticket. He'll need a trip.

Race 10

(1) DIDRICKSON draws inside and has finished second in each of her last two outings. She gets the rail and likely will draw a lot of attention. (10) CAMS VAN GO will have to overcome post 10, but she drops in class, has the speed and comes out of O'Sullivan's barn. (4) EAT ME UP has hit the board in two of her last three starts and has been finishing her miles very strong.

Race 11

(6) MARLEE B may offer a price and I'm looking to capitalize. She draws better and should get a cleaner trip. If she's not too far back, she has a terrific closing kick. (3) LIFETIME JEWEL draws inside and has finished first and second in her last two starts. She's at her best right now and should get a clean trip from post two. (5) UPFRONTWHOSURLADY is fresh off a win in 1:51 3/5 with a :26 3/4 final frame. A repeat effort makes her a top threat.

Race 12

This is a wide-open field, but (7) STAGE IT RIGHT has won in this class in the past and should offer a price in here. If she's put into the race early, she could pull off the upset. (4) ON THE CUSP was not herself last start and faded to ninth. She was on a line and wasn't 100%. She's capable of a rebound effort. (6) ST LADS MORGAN has a terrific record so far this season, the best of the field. She enjoys racing off a helmet and will get that from a post six start.
