Mohawk: Friday 8/9 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: FERRARI SENA (5th)

Spot Play: SEA HARRIER (9th)

Race 1

(6) OAKLEA UPTOWN gets Jamieson back in the bike and has been racing very well in recent starts. This race is wide-open and he should provide a price. (10) FALCOR BLUESTONE draws the outside, but is a good option at this level. If he's not too far back, he's very capable of the hitting the exactor. (3) LDEES CREDITREPORT draws better and enjoys being put into the race. She went off at high odds in her last few starts, but drops in class.

Race 2

(4) PANPERO FIRPO won a Grassroots division two starts ago and comes out of Menary's barn; will draw a lot of attention. (5) JA EL POCKETRCKET has been racing very well in his last two starts. He's versatile and should offer a fair price. (6) CAN HE GO hasn't won yet in 11 starts this season, but is a good candidate for the triactor. Austin's barn has been good this season and this horse shows the speed.

Race 3

(4) CROSBYS CLAM BAKE is my top pick based solely on last week's effort. That was a terrific mile and a repeat should make him a winner in this higher class. (9) LADY DYNAMITE moves into the high percentage barn of McMillan and this filly is very versatile. She has the speed, but will need the right trip. (1) FIVE TOWNS draws the rail and comes from a good barn. He has gate speed and gets McNair again.

Race 4

(7) MACH SET GO comes out of the Summertime Pacing Series and into this class. The class relief alone is key, along with the fast miles he's been producing. (2) CLASSIC GENT is another top candidate off his new lifetime best effort taken last start. He draws inside and I'd expect to see his gate speed used. (5) GEORGE JETTISON gets Jamieson, is very versatile and comes from Darling's barn.  He's also won his last two starts since the addition of Lasix.

Race 5

(11) FERRARI SENA will once again trail from post 11, but certainly looks like the horse to beat in this series. She scored both preliminary wins in comfortable fashion. (3) SMARTYGIRL draws well and has been at her best in her last two starts. She gets McNair, has a good record this season and is a good option for second. (4) HAT TRICK HONEY also can't be overlooked. She's found a new gear since arriving in the Ritchie barn three starts ago.

Race 6

(1) GRAPHENE comes out of the Town Pro Series and faces a much easier bunch in here. She comes from O'Sullivan's barn and likely will get a lot of attention. (3) MATTYS BIG DAY has a good record this season, comes from a high percentage trainer and is very versatile. (7) SOMEWHEREINHEAVEN doesn't like to win, but has only missed the board once in eight starts. She's a 'must have' for the triactor.

Race 7

(8) VOELZ HANOVER has a terrific win record this year and did just that last week. She's hard to overlook. (10) MONKEY ON MY WHEEL comes out of the Roses Are Red and back into this class. She'll have to overcome post 10 and should return to better form. (9) SHELLISCAPE tends to be inconsistent and hasn't been at her best in recent starts. She went a tough trip last week and will look for a cleaner steer.

Race 8

(8) DULL ROAR drops out of the Summertime and the class relief makes him a top threat. He comes out of Gillis' barn and gets Jamieson back in the bike. (2) BAD BOY MATT has a good record this season, draws well and was timed in 1:51 4/5 last start at Georgian Downs. (9) PANONGAHELA hasn't missed the board in her last two starts and comes out of Menarys's barn. She'll have to overcome post nine, but shows she's versatile.

Race 9

(1) SEA HARRIER draws inside and has been knocking on the door in his last few starts. I'm price shopping and feel he's due to score his first win. (9) MADDYSONOFAGUN has hit the board in his last four of five starts and has terrific early speed. He enjoys being put into the race and MacDonald will do just that. (8) BERKSHIRE BEAR closed very well last week to finish second by a head. He'll likely offer a fair price and should improve off last week's performance.

Race 10

(2) BEAT THE DRUM is my top pick based solely on him moving into the Coleman barn. He draws well and Coleman has a terrific reputation for first time starters. (6) KROME WHEELS was timed in 1:52 4/5 last start with a terrific final frame. He's my second pick based on last week's effort. (9) CARRACCI HANOVER will have to overcome post nine, but has gate speed and this isn't a deep field of two-year-olds. He comes from a very good barn and gets Waples.

Race 11

(1) CHAMPAGNE PHIL draws the rail and is fresh off a convincing victory. He races at his best when he's put into the race. (5) LYONSPARKHAVENLAKE paced in 1:51 1/5 two starts ago and a repeat effort makes him a good candidate. He's inconsistent and will need a trip. (7) BAD BOY HILL got interfered with last week and was assigned post 10 the start prior. He comes from a top barn and will look to show a better effort. I hope he's forwardly placed.

Race 12

(8) BLACKBIRD SINGING has a good record this season and has proven to be a top threat in this class. He'll likely be the favorite. (4) GUTSY GREG always tires late in the mile, but I'm going to try him here. He comes from Moreau's barn and has shown that he belongs in this class. (6) WHO DOESN'T wouldn't be a shock in this wide open field.
