Best Bet: DANA DEAREST (4th)

Spot Play: PRAIRIE ILLUSION (1st)

Race 1

(2) PRAIRIE ILLUSION gets major post relief this week and drops into the bottom class, which she's very capable of winning. (9) RUBBER BELLY has hit the board in each of his last four starts and has a terrific overall record this season. (7) JEREMEYES JEWEL was hard-used last week in this class and should appreciate an easier trip.

Race 2

(3) EXEMPLAR gets top billing from me in his first start of the season and I'm hoping for a fair price. (2) DEMENTED has a terrific record this season and once again poses as the top threat. (4) RAISE THE CURTAIN moved into this class last week and finished second, but was placed fourth.

Race 3

(7) A FILLY AFFAIR has won three straight since adding lasix to her program for trainer/owner Mark Herlihy. (9) PALM BEACH HANOVER was the heavy-favourite last week in the same class as A Filly Affair and had to settle for second. (8) RIVETING has hit the board in three of her last four starts and shows a lot of versatility.

Race 4

(7) DANA DEAREST moves into the Casie Coleman barn and that will only deflate her price. She raced terrific one week ago as she displayed her patented late kick with a :27 1/5 final frame to close from ninth-to-first. (5) BORN TO DREAM comes from trainer Tony O'Sullivan and has hit the board in two of her last three starts. (2) SHELLYSSILVERMOON went to the back last start and wasn't a factor for trainer Todd James. The one-time winner has quick gate-speed and almost went gate-to-wire two starts back in a credible time.

Race 5

(4) NOBLE FLIGHT is fresh off a new lifetime best performance draws inside and once again is a top threat in the win column. (1) CALIPARI gets Jack Moiseyev in the bike once again this week and was a game second last week in this class. (2) DOUBLEDOWN GASS has terrific gate-speed, which has been displayed in each of his five starts this season.

Race 6

(6) ALIBI SEELSTER comes from the Jack Darling barn and has recently raced in the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series along with the Canadian Breeders Championship eliminations. (2) BET YA put in a sub-par effort in her most recent outing, but is very capable of a bounce-back performance. (5) DOUBLE JOY continues to pace in the 1:53-1:54 range and has won two of her last four starts.

Race 7

(5) NEFERTITI BLUECHIP finished second in her elimination of the Canadian Breeders Championship before receiving an outside post in the rich final. (3) CATALEA SEELSTER draws inside, is fresh off a win and comes from the Tony Montini barn. The talented filly was impressive in her most recent outing as she closed well in a new career best. (7) NOBLE JILLY has been racing very consistent this season for trainer Harry Poulton.

Race 8

(10) SHADOWS WONDER comes from the Dr. Ian Moore barn, who is no stranger to success with young horses and this Shadow Play filly has all kinds of speed to offer and has hit the board in two of her last three starts. (7) GOLDIES MACH has been racing well this season for trainer Dave Menary and drops out of the C.B.C and into a more suitable class. (5) KISS ME OR NOT has been racing well this season and was a winner at this Grassroots level just three starts back in a new career best time if 1:53 3/5.

Race 9

(3) SOMETHININCREDIBLE has been my top selection in each of her three starts this season and once again I'll back her despite no wins. (2) TOO SHY draws inside and has hit the board in each of her last three starts. (1) RUBIS PRESCOTT entered the Dean Nixon barn two starts ago and immediately found the winners circle at 24-1 for driver Paul MacDonell.

Race 10

(7) HER OWN LAND gets class relief as she drops out of the Canadian Breeders Championship eliminations and into this Grassroots level. (4) ARTFUL IMPULSE comes from Hall of Famer Bob McIntosh's barn, draws well and was a closing fifth in the C.B.C final, beaten less than two lengths for the win. (5) MEA LILLEY MARK has been racing very well in recent weeks despite no wins from nine starts this season.

Race 11

(10) BULLET POINT will have to overcome post 10, but drops in class again this week and looks like the mare to beat on paper. (1) SEASIDE RORY was the favourite last week at a higher level and now drops in class and begins from the rail. (3) SHADYS M THREE has been a main threat in this class for many weeks and has hit the board in two of her last three starts.
