Mohawk: Friday 7/12 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Spot Play: CARDS THAT COUNT (8th)

Race 1

(6) PAPER BACKED LINDY comes out of the Antonacci barn, which has had tremendous success when racing on this circuit. This trotter shows enough trot and will look for his first win of the season. (1) BOOGIE WOOGIE draws inside and was recently timed in 1:54. That type of mile should be quick enough to hit the exactor. (3) NORTHERN VICTORY draws inside although he doesn't like to win, he's a good option for the triactor. Good performance in his latest.

Race 2

(7) ANGIES LUCKY STAR is fresh off a record-setting performance and will be favoured among many horseplayers in here. (8) SEEUINTHESPRING has been racing very well and may provide a price. She'll likely race from behind, but I feel she's very capable. (5) CHOIR ROBE has only missed the board once from six starts. She's very versatile and comes from top connections.

Race 3

(1) MOTOWN MUSCLE draws inside, is fresh off a win and looks like the horse to beat in here. Very versatile and is a top filly this year. (6) ORDERINGIN has won two straight and comes out of Moreau's barn. She's a top player in this race. (2) ANAFFAIRTOREMEMBER draws inside and although she made a miscue last start, she's very competitive in this field. She'll have to mind her manners.

Race 4

(10) MISS MACHQUEEN won last start and although he moves up in class, she's still very capable of winning. She comes from a top barn and has a good record. (7) LITTLE BROWN MUG has been racing well and finished second at this level last start. (5) BETIT TO GETIT has a terrific record this season and is very consistent. She also comes out of the Wallace barn and this class is a nice fit for her.

Race 5

(5) TAKE THAT HANOVER comes out of the Darling barn and that's the main reason for my selection. He's had a tremendous season so far with young horses and this filly qualified very well. (7) PALM BEACH HANOVER posted back-to-back qualifying wins and finished each mile with lots of pace. She appears ready at first asking. (2) SHES DA BOMB draws inside, comes out of O'Sullivan's barn and won her qualifying effort last week. She also appears to be a player in this race.

Race 6

(6) GOTTA SECRET hasn't missed the board in all four starts this season. He finished second last week and with no Flanagan Memory in here, he's a top threat. (1) MURMUR HANOVER draws the rail and raced impressively last week, timed in 1:53 3/5. That sets him up very well for this race. (4) KINETIC KING is a coin toss in my opinion. He's displayed the speed to be very competitive, but has a reputation for making breaks.

Race 7

(7) FERRARI SENA paced some speedy miles over at Bangor and now moves onto this circuit and into the Moreau barn. That alone will decrease his price significantly. (8) PALM PATROL has hit the board in four of his last five starts. She's very versatile and moved down in class. (9) MISTY MOONSTONE raced at her best when she's put in the race. She'll have to overcome post nine and should offer a nice price.

Race 8

(4) CARDS THAT COUNT has been racing very well at Grand River and moves back onto this circuit and into the bottom class. She's been pacing fast enough miles and can step up her game. (1) MACHLEEN draws inside and comes out of Austin's barn, which has been terrific in 2013. This mare is very capable with the class drop. (7) A SPECIAL LADY has hit the board in each of her last two starts since her layoff. She's been finishing her miles very strong and that

Race 9

(4) GROOM HANOVER is a much better horse than he's been showing. He's won at a higher level and will look to rebound and find his game. (6) PROTEGE SEELSTER qualified well and comes out of Montini's barn. He's got back-class and is very competitive in this bottom class. (7) OAKLEA UPTOWN is fresh off a win and Walker's barn has been very good this season. This horse is very capable of stepping up.

Race 10

(3) AMBLE OVER HANOVER has been racing very well in his last three starts. He finished second in this class last week, but was only beat by a neck. I'd assume his front-end speed will be used. (8) STONEBRIDGE WISH has finished second in each of his last two starts. He moves onto this circuit and shows enough speed to be very competitive. (1) THE DEPUTY IS HOME has hit the board in four of his last five starts and is very consistent. He draws inside and enjoys being put into the race.

Race 11

(1) CAMS VAN GO draws inside and comes out of the Preferred and into this level. She class drop alone makes her a top candidate along with the McNair/O'Sullivan angle. (3) HOPE FOR PADDY is fresh off an eye-catching score and looks like she's back to her old self. A repeat effort and she's a big player. (7) TEA PARTY PRINCESS has been racing better in her last two starts and has some back-class to her. She'll need a trip.

Race 12

(6) GRACIE MONTANA drops in class and that's the main reason for my selection. She's very capable in here and enjoys racing from off-the-pace. (1) SMASHBOX is very inconsistent, but also drops in class. She's a top contender in here, but will need a trip. (10) LETS GO GET EM is very versatile and should provide a price from post 10. She'll need the race to work in her favour, but has good closing speed.

Race 13

(6) ST LADS MORGAN is fresh off a win and has a good winning record this season. She draws in the middle and enjoys racing from behind. (9) PART TIME LADY has a terrific record this season and comes out of the Winacott barn. That will only decrease her price. (1) XENIA HANOVER draws the rail and the addition of lasix has appeared to help. She may provide a fair price.
