Mohawk: Friday 10/4 Analysis

Race 4 - $75,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: VOELZ HANOVER (11th)

Spot Play: KILTED PRIDE (3rd)

Race 1

(7) KINETIC KING draws outside again, but won from off the pace last week. He drops in class and set a new lifetime best last week. (1) SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK gets the rail and moves into the Moreau barn. That's the main reason for my selection. (4) PHOTO MASS draws well, comes out of the Johnson barn and is very versatile. He's hit the board in two of his last three starts.

Race 2

(3) REGIL ELEKTRA draws well and won the Super Final last week. This is a short field and this filly has been on her 'A' game in her last four starts. (6) SEASIDE RORY was assigned post 10 in the Super Final and was unable to overcome it. She closed well and she's a top filly in this field. (5) PAN LUIS OBISPO put in a sub-par effort in her Super Final and makes her second start on lasix. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt, as she's been a top filly in this class all season.

Race 3

(2) KILTED PRIDE draws inside and set a new lifetime best just two starts ago. He's classified accordingly and may offer a fair price. (6) ILL BE THERE has always been competitive in this class and has gate-speed. He comes from Montini's barn and is very versatile. (7) MOPEY COREY has a good overall record this season and may offer a price. If he can mind his manners, he's a good option for the triactor.

Race 4

(6) WAASMULA has been the favourite in each of her last two starts and has failed to win. She remains at the same level, has the speed and faces an easier bunch this week. (7) TEA PARTY PRINCESS has post 10 last week and draws better. If she's closer to the pace, she's a very good option. (4) ST LADS PEEPER races at her best off a helmet as she moves up in class. She's won two of her last three starts and three of her last five.

Race 5

(10) JUST MAKE BELIEVE won by open lengths last start in the debut for trainer Moreau. Even with a post 10 start, I feel he's the horse to beat. (4) POCKET TRIP draws well and closed very well last start. He comes from a high percentage trainer and was a good record this season. (8) POUNCE HANOVER has the speed, but will need a trip. He comes out of the Zeron barn and has hit the board in four of seven starts this season.

Race 6

(8) ICANDOTHAT has a terrific record this season and moves into the Moreau barn. He ships onto this circuit from the Maritimes and is capable of dropping multiple seconds. (6) MACH IT A PAR has a good midpack starting post with Christoforou driving. (9) HIPPIE CHIC has a terrific record despite one win. She comes from a high percentage trainer and has hit the board in each of her last four starts.

Race 7

(4) LYONSSWEETIE has been at her best in recent weeks and is fresh off a win in this class. Saftic is back in the bike and should benefit from a good trip from the same post. (8) FOX VALLEY BONITA hasn't been worse than second in each of her last four starts and is very versatile. She comes out of O'Sullivan's barn and is a top threat in this class. (1) NEGLIGENT HANOVER gets the rail and comes out of Moreau's barn. She moves up in class but has shown the speed to compete at this level.

Race 8

(6) STANDING MY GROUND moves into the Moreau barn and is fresh off a win. She has the speed and likely will offer a low price. (2) WIND STROLL comes out of Walker's barn, which has been terrific this season. She draws inside and hasn't been worse than second in four of her last five starts. (4) KEYSTONE SAPPHIRE has hit the board in nine of 10 starts this season and is very versatile. She moves up in class, but has displayed the speed needed for this level.

Race 9

(4) BROOKDALE SHADOW almost won last week and finished second, by a nose. She was timed in 1:52 4/5 and a repeat effort should make her a winner. (7) COUNTRY DELIGHT will make her third career start and has proven to be a top filly early in her career. She finished second in this class last week and comes from top connections. I believe it's between these two fillies for the win. (1) UNIQUE ROCK N ROLL moved into the Coleman barn last week and the result was a third place finish. She gets the rail and drops in class.

Race 10

(3) PUTMEINTOGO won last week from well off-the-pace and draws the same post once again. She has the speed and has been much better in recent weeks. (1) MARLEE B closed well last week with a :26 4/5 final quarter. She comes out of Fellows' barn, which has been much better in recent weeks and should be closer to the pace. (9) SHANGHAI MIMI has a good record this season, comes out of Steacy's barn and is very versatile. She should offer a price and is capable of hitting the board.

Race 11

(6) VOELZ HANOVER looks like the horse to beat. She comes out of the Milton final and will likely be the favourite. (2) FERRARI SENA draws inside and won at this level last week. She has come a long way in a short period of time on this circuit. (3) BAROCKEY found the wire first last start and moves into this Preferred level. She enjoys leaving the gate and that will likely happen from post three.

Race 12

(1) THE SUMMER WIND won in this class last week from post 10 and now has been blessed with the rail. Don't expect to see the same price as last week. (3) ADAYMER SEELSTER draws well and has been racing very consistently in this class. She's very versatile and a good option for the exactor. (6) BOAT HOUSE ROW is picked for third based on the class drop. She draws well, has the speed and may provide a price.
