Father Patrick crushed his competition in a record 1:53 4/5.

Father Patrick set a stakes and Canadian record scoring in 1:53 4/5 in the $365,000 William Wellwood Memorial at Mohawk on Saturday night. The gifted son of Cantab Hall established early position in third off a blistering quarter cut by 45-1 outsider Odds On Amethyst. Driver Yannick Gingras sent Father Patrick to the front before the half of :57 2/5 and the rest was history.

Father Patrick scored by open lengths over Harper Blue Chip with Credit Fashion rallying late for the third spot.

When informed after the race that the time was just one fifth of a second off the world mark, Gingras said, “He could have crushed it.”

“He had plenty left in the tank,” Gingras continued about Father Patrick, who is trained by Jimmy Takter for the Father Patrick Stable. Sent off as the 1-9 favorite, Father Patrick returned $2.30 for the win while capturing his seventh race in eight career starts.

Riveting Rosie took control at the outset and never looked back winning the $374,000 Peaceful Way final for two-year-old trotting fillies. Driver Paul MacDonell guided the daughter of Ontario-sire Muscle Mass through fractions of :28 3/5, :58  2/5 and 1:27 3/5 en route to a 1:56 1/5 victory.

Grammas Girl stalked Riveting Rosie the mile and finished second with Game On Hanover finishing third.

Trained by John Bax, Riveting Rosie scored as the 6-5 public choice. It was her fifth victory in seven career starts.
