Mo Dont No, a rising star among Ohio-breds, handily defeated older rivals in Saturday’s $75,000 Governor’s Buckeye Cup at Thistledown.

Third as stablemate Dubacious set tepid fractions of 1:14.30 for six furlongs and 1:39.80 for the first mile, the 3-year-old Mo Dont No ($2.80) made the lead under Luis Colon at the top of the stretch and went on to win by 3 1/4 lengths, completing 1 1/4 miles in 2:06.66.

Eightthehardway, the third longest shot in the 11-horse field at 47-1, outfinished the 3-year-old Bucket Beat by a head for second.

Silver Tongued, who had been first or second in each of the last three runnings of the Buckeye Cup, was far back for the first mile and checked in seventh.

Mo Dont No, a son of Uncle Mo trained by Jeff Radosevich for Looch Racing Stables, is now 5 for 9 with earnings of $173,455. His previous stakes victory came in the 1 1/8-mile Cleveland Gold Cup in early July.
