The $250,000 Comely, the richest of three stakes on the Friday card at Aqueduct, attracted a field of nine when the 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old fillies was drawn Sunday. Miss Sky Warrior, who is undefeated in three starts over the Aqueduct main track, will try to bounce back from a fourth-place finish in the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm on Oct. 28 at Belmont Park. Miss Sky Warrior was making her first start since the Kentucky Oaks in that race. A daughter of First Samurai trained by Kelly Breen, Miss Sky Warrior was given a farm freshening after the Oaks. She has worked twice since the Turnback the Alarm and should step forward in the Grade 3 Comely. In three starts at Aqueduct, Miss Sky Warrior has won the Grade 3 Tempted and Grade 2 Demoiselle last November and the Grade 2 Gazelle in April. She also won the Grade 2 Davona Dale at Gulfstream Park in March. Front-running Miss Sky Warrior will break from post 8 under Javier Castellano. The field also includes Grade 3 Delaware Oaks winner Actress and the improving allowance winner Tapella. Actress, who is trained by Jason Servis, finished sixth in the Grade 1 Cotillion and fourth in the Grade 1 Alabama in her two most recent starts. Actress drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jose Ortiz. Tapella, who races for Todd Pletcher, comes into the Comely off a 3 1/4-length win going a mile at Belmont. Manny Franco will be aboard when the daughter of Tapit breaks from the outside post. The Friday card also includes the $150,000 Gio Ponti, a 1 1/16-mile turf race for 3-year-olds and the $100,000 Key Cents, a six-furlong sprint for New York-bred 2-year-old fillies.
