Miss Missile too good at Columbus

COLUMBUS, Neb. - Miss Missile remained perfect in her three starts in Nebraska with an impressive 2 1/4-length win over six others in the $10,575 Bill Callihan Stakes for older fillies and mares on Saturday at Columbus.

Miss Missile went to the front and made all the running on a short lead from Ordway Falls Nlove. Jockey Damon Leeds sat motionless throughout as Miss Missile eased away in the stretch to cover the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:20.80 over a fast track. Ordway Falls Nlove held second, 1 1/2 lengths clear of Queensport in third. Sent off the 4-5 favorite, Miss Missile returned $3.80 to win and combined with Ordway Falls Nlove for a 1-8 exacta worth $9.40.

Trained by Charlie Smith, Miss Missile had won both the Bold Accent and Al Swihart Stakes at Fonner Park this spring. She has also won allowance races at Assiniboia Downs in Canada and at Canterbury Park while compiling a mark of 5-0-1 from 7 starts this year. Lifetime, she owns a record of 15-1-3 from 30 starts and earnings of over $390,000.
