Miss Macy Sue scores upset in Carousel

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Miss Macy Sue ran to the seven consecutive bullet works she had fired at Oaklawn Park for her season debut, when she overtook True Tails inside the final furlong for a six-length win in the track's $50,000 Carousel Stakes. Wildcat Bettie B, the 3-5 favorite making her first start since October, raced five wide around the turn and finished third, 1 3/4 lengths behind True Tails.

Miss Macy Sue ($24.40) sat about a length off pacesetter True Tails, who led the field through an opening quarter-mile in 21.55 seconds in the six-furlong race for fillies and mares. Miss Macy Sue continued to track True Tails through a half-mile in 44.60 seconds, then overtook that one in the stretch and went on to cover the distance over a track rated good in 1:10.29

Eddie Razo Jr. rode the winner for trainer Kelly Von Hemel.

Miss Macy Sue earned $30,000 for the win, which was her first in a stakes. She has now won 5 of 12 starts and $155,460. Miss Macy Sue is a 4-year-old filly by Trippi and she races for Roll Reroll Stables.
