Miss Fortunate has the right style

ALTOONA, Iowa - It's hard to separate the 11 fillies and mares in Saturday's $50,000 Wild Rose Stakes at Prairie Meadows. But with several speed horses in the 1 1/16-mile race, Miss Fortunate's tracking ability should play well.

A 4-year-old daughter of Deputy Minister, Miss Fortunate enters the Wild Rose off a rallying 3 3/4-length score against three-other- than allowance company at Churchill on May 5, a race that was run at Saturday's 1 1/16-mile distance.

Miss Fortunate has a record of 4-2-1 from 11 starts and has $146,535 in earnings for trainer Bill Mott.

Cornelio Velasquez has a return call aboard Miss Fortunate on Saturday. Miss Fortunate is the 123-pound highweight under the allowance conditions of the Wild Rose.

Wildwood Royal, trained by Jimmy Zook, has won three of her four local starts, including two stakes last year, the Iowa Oaks and the Panthers. A 4-year-old daughter of Royal Academy, Wildwood Royal will be part of the early pace as she goes for her third straight win Saturday. Danush Sukie will ride Wildwood Royal, who has won 8 of her 19 career starts and over $206,000.

Sharky's Review, an Iowa-bred who has fared well against open company here, is a late threat in the Wild Rose. Trained by Mark Bader, Sharky's Review leads the field in career wins with 14 and earnings with $634,013. He will be ridden by Perry Compton and will carry 120 pounds.
