Miss Charm City romps

Miss Charm City stamped herself as a prime contender for next month's Maryland Million Lassie with a dominating 6 3/4-length victory in the $50,000 Gin Talking Stakes at Laurel Park.

A four-length winner at 20-1 in her career debut on Aug. 13, Miss Charm City ($7.60), under Horatio Karamanos, went after front-runner Letmeaskuaquestion after she ran the opening quarter-mile in 23.07 seconds, took command midway on the turn, and increased her advantage through the stretch. She completed 5 1/2 furlongs on a sloppy track in 1:06.87.

Trainer Carlos Garcia said Miss Charm City will be pointed to the $150,000 Maryland Million Lassie, a seven-furlong race, on Oct. 4.

Letmeaskuaquestion held on for second, with 9-5 favorite Graceful Ginger nosing out first-time starter Queen of Song for third in a field of five Maryland-bred 2-year-old fillies.
