Miss Beduino Cash shows promise

Miss Beduino Cash shoots for national prominence when she heads the Grade 3, $39,510 Ford Central Challenge for 2-year-olds at Canterbury Park on Saturday.

Miss Beduino Cash made her career debut at Sam Houston Race Park with a third-place finish in a 300-yard maiden race on May 2. She first showed promise when she shipped to Canterbury Park for the Ford Challenge trials only 20 days after her first race, and romped to a 2 3/4-length victory. Her 350-yard qualifying time of 17.790 seconds is the fastest in the Ford Central Challenge, and it probably earned her the role of favorite in the finals.

Torrid Tango also got his career going in the right direction in his Ford Challenge trial. A son of leading sire First Down Dash, Torrid Tango managed only a second-place finish from his first two starts, but then won his maiden by a length in his Ford Challenge trial. He was timed in 17.860 seconds, making him and Miss Beduino Cash the only two qualifiers timed in under 18 seconds in the trials.
