Email

Grade 1 winner Misremembered has been retired from racing to enter stud, although owners Jill Baffert and George Jacobs haven’t determined his stud plans yet.

Bob Baffert, Jill’s husband, bred and trained the 5-year-old Candy Ride ridgling. Misremembered won last year’s Santa Anita Handicap, beating Neko Bay by a half-length, and he set a Hoosier Park track record in the 2009 Indiana Derby, winning that 1 1/16-mile race by a half-length in 1.40.80. Misremembered also won the Grade 2 Swaps Stakes in 2009 and the Santana Mile Stakes this year. He bowed out of his racing career with a second-place finish behind Win Willy in the April 9 Oaklawn Handicap.

Misremembered retires with a record of 6 wins and 5 seconds in 13 starts and earnings of $1,306,709. He ranks first among handicap horses on the Daily Racing Form’s Watchmaker Watch divisional ratings.

He is out of the graded stakes winner Beyond Perfection, by Quack, and is his dam’s first stakes winner.
