Miranda Diane remains horse for the course


Miranda Diane improved her record at Will Rogers Downs to 7 for 8 on Saturday, when she splashed to a six-length win in the $57,500 Cherokee Casino Classic. The race was one of two six-furlong stakes restricted to horses bred in Oklahoma on the card.

Miranda Diane ($3.40) was pressured through an opening quarter in 22.27 seconds, then began to move clear of her rivals on the final turn. She opened up on the field in the stretch, while covering the distance in the mud in 1:08.91.

Nena Matz was aboard for B and S Racing and trainer Shane Seaton.

* In the $57,500 Oklahoma Thoroughbred Association Classic, Steal Your Face ($14.80) closed with a rush for a three-quarter length win over Okie Time.

Steal Your Face had just a few horses beat in the early stages of the race then put in a strong bid through the lane to get the distance in 1:09.46. Travis Cunningham rode the winner for Rockin BB Ranch.
