Mirahmadi to call races on California fair circuit

Frank Mirahmadi, the former announcer at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., will be track announcer for the California Authority of Racing Fairs this coming season. His first meet will begin on June 14, with the opening of San Joaquin County Fair in Stockton.

Mirahmadi parted company with Louisiana Downs in February, after having been announcer there since 2000. Before that, he worked at Hialeah Park in Florida from 1996 to 2001, and also has called races at Fair Grounds in Louisiana, and Turf Paradise in Arizona.

"I have always wanted to call races in California," said Mirahmadi, a Los Angeles native. "This is an exciting opportunity."

After the San Joaquin meet, Mirahmadi will call Alameda County Fair, Solano County Fair, Humboldt County Fair, and the Big Fresno Fair, which closes out the fair season on Oct. 15.

Travis Stone succeeds Mirahmadi at Louisiana Downs.
