Minnesota state racing officials under investigation for misconduct

Email

SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Mary Manney, assistant executive director of the Minnesota Racing Commission, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of an investigation of alleged misconduct. Chief state veterinarian Dr. Lynn Hovda also is being investigated for alleged misconduct. It is unclear if the two investigations are related.

Richard Krueger, executive director of the commission, would not comment specifically on the allegations, but did state to the media that “everything is fair and above board” regarding the wagering product at Canterbury Park and Running Aces Harness Park and at the card rooms of the two tracks.

The Minnesota Management and Budget Office will be facilitating the investigations, but it is uncertain at this time whether the investigations will be conducted by the racing commission, a separate state agency, or an outside investigator.
