Mini Mom tops Bobbie Bricker

EmailMini Mom, a three-time stakes winner this year, will probably be favored in the $50,000 Bobbie Bricker Memorial Stakes at Thistledown on Saturday. The 1 1/16-mile race drew 13 fillies and mares.

Mini Mom, a 3-year-old daughter of Parents' Reward, was a sharp second her last time out in the Vivacious Stakes on the grass at River Downs going this distance, and a week earlier won the Horizon Stakes under similiar conditions. The move back to the dirt should pose no problem as she has also won stakes on that surface. Trainer Tim Hamm has named Luis Gonzalez to ride Mini Mom at 120 pounds. She will race coupled with Reapingtherewards, who will be ridden by Victor Urieta.

Main opposition to Mini Mom should come from Montfort Lane and Imahoneytoo.

Montfort Lane was a rallying second in a six-furlong sprint at Beulah Park on Oct. 17. She was second behind Mini Mom in the Cincinnatian Stakes on July 1 at River Downs. John McKee will come in to ride Montfort Lane for trainer Eric Reed.

Imahoneytoo is a multiple stakes winner going a middle distance. The 6-year-old Latvia mare has not had one of her better seasons, but appears to have come to hand for trainer Richard Zielinski in her last start, the Oct. 6 Best of Ohio Distaff Stakes. She was fourth that day behind the classy Cryptoquip, and a similiar effort puts her right in the mix Saturday.

Scott Spieth rides Imahoneytoo.

Of the others Money Card, Misty Tab, or Anne Rides Again would have the best chance of winning.
