PORTLAND, Ore. - The 41st running of the $30,000 Portland Meadows Mile headlines a stellar Monday card that also includes the $20,000 Donna Jensen Handicap for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles, a $9,200 invitational handicap for older sprinters at five furlongs, and the $10,000 Portland Meadows Quarter Horse Derby for 3-year-olds at 400 yards.

The three Thoroughbred stakes are part of a $20,000-guaranteed pick five wager, which will run be races 6-10 on the 11-race card. There will be a mandatory payout on the pick five, with all of the pool being distributed.

Brave Hearted and Desert Sea, the top two finishers in the six-furlong Governor's Speed Handicap on Feb. 18, will share high weight of 123 pounds in the Mile, which has drawn a field of nine. Brave Hearted will break from post 4 with regular rider Javier Mattias up, while Desert Sea will go from post 7 with Gary Baze.

Heading the opposition is I Am Thor, a winner at the $16,000 claiming level at Golden Gate Fields. I Am Thor will break from post 6 with Gallyn Mitchell riding at 120 pounds.

The Donna Jensen has drawn seven runners, including a stable coupling. Musical Wine, a winner of three straight over this track, and Me O Me O My, who ran fourth in a $20,000 optional claimer at Turf Paradise in her most recent outing, should vie for favoritism.

Mystic Wood figures to go favored in the invitational handicap, which has drawn a field of 10.

Snip N Dale, a winner of five straight, looms as the one to beat in the Quarter Horse Derby, which has also lured 10 starters.
