Migliore suffers concussion in spill

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Jockey Richard Migliore suffered a mild concussion as a result of a spill he was in during the running of the first race Saturday at Aqueduct.

Migliore, who took off his remaining four mounts on Saturday's card - including sixth race winner Four Star General - will have to take off the three horses he was scheduled to ride on Sunday's card at Aqueduct. Migliore, who was released from North Shore University Hospital late Saturday afternoon, said he will visit a neurologist on Wednesday in hopes of getting clearance to ride by next weekend. Following Sunday's card, Aqueduct is dark until Friday.

Migliore was aboard Honest Wildcat, who was in contention while three wide at the eighth pole when that horse suddenly broke down, hurling Migliore hard to the ground. Honest Wildcat did a somersault and was later euthanized having suffered two fractured sesamoids in his right foreleg.

Migliore, who was removed from the track on a stretcher, was conscious but was complaining of blurred vision. He was transported to North Shore where X-rays on his shoulder and neck were negative.
