With Rafael Hernandez aboard, Midnight Miley turns back Elusive Collection to win the Seaway by three-quarters of a length on Saturday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Midnight Miley notched her second straight Grade 3 stakes win, turning back from 1 1/16 miles to seven furlongs in Saturday’s $150,600 Seaway at Woodbine.

Midnight Miley broke alertly from the rail, and opened up a substantial lead through honest fractions under Rafael Hernandez. Elusive Collection took up the chase in second, and came up to Midnight Miley’s flank in the stretch, but Midnight Miley held her ground to prevail by three-quarters of a length in a quick time of 1:22.07.

“Everything went good, like the last time,” said Hernandez. “She broke good and we let her do her thing.”

Midnight Miley ($7.50), a daughter of Midnight Lute, banked $90,000 for Little Red Feather Racing. She won the  Ontario Matron in her previous outing.

“She’s on top of her game,” said trainer Julia Carey. “She likes to run on the bit, and Rafael does it perfect, but if you throw her head away, she’ll probably stop on you.”

Regia Marina dead-heated with the favored Cactus Kris for third. Charming Delilah and Norquay completed the order of finish.
