Group 2 winner Midas Touch has been retired from racing and will enter stud at War Horse Place in Lexington, Ky. for the 2013 breeding season.
The 6-year-old Galileo horse will stand for a fee of $10,000 live foal.
Midas Touch, who won two of 21 starts for earnings of $799,184, was Group 1-placed in three countries. He won the Group 2 Derby Trial in Ireland in 2010 before finishing second, beaten half a length, to champion Cape Blanco in the Irish Derby. His other Group 1 placings came when third in the 2010 St. Leger in England, and third in the 2011 Underwood Stakes in Australia.
Midas Touch is out of the stakes-winning Darshaan mare Approach, a full sister to stakes-placed winner and stakes producer Intrigued. Approach’s dam, the Group 2 winning Alzao mare Last Second, also produced French classic winner and sire Aussie Rules and Group 3 placed Gooseberry Pool.
Last Second is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Alleluia and stakes winners Arrikala and Alouette. It is the family of Group 1 winners Allegretto, Alborada, Albanova, Yesterday, and Quarter Moon.
