The revived Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Championship series will now award $5,000 bonuses to the breeder of each of the top points earners among males and females in each of the four participating states, the administrators of the series announced Thursday. The bonuses will be funded by breeders’ organizations in the four states – Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware, according to the organizers. “I am delighted we have been able to bring our breeders into the series and showcase our bred-fund programs,” said Alan Foreman, the Maryland-based attorney who re-organized the series this year. The MATCH series this year will consist of 25 races in five different divisions, held from mid-May to mid-September. Horses will earn points based on finish positions in the races, with bonuses awarded to owners and trainers of the top point earners.
