Michigan Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders to hold stallion season auction

The Michigan Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association will conduct its annual stallion season auction from Monday, Jan. 28 to Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Among the offerings are services from stallions based in Michigan, Kentucky, Florida, New York, Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. In addition to leading Michigan sires, the auction features stallions from prominent operations such as Darby Dan Farm, WinStar Farm, Adena Springs and Millennium Farms.

“We’ve got a lot of nice stallions in there, and I think there’s going to be some good values for mare owners,” said MTOBA President Patti Dickinson. “They really should take advantage of that.”

Bidding will be held online or by phone, with online registration beginning Jan. 26 through a link on the front page of the MTOBA website. Phone bidders are asked to pre-register by calling the MTOBA office at (616) 844-5662 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern, with first phone bids being taken Jan. 28 at 10 a.m.
