Message to DRF readers - 9/12

Email

Tuesday's terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., literally hit close to home for Daily Racing Form. Our headquarters at 100 Broadway are just four blocks south of the rubble of the World Trade Center, and our early-arriving employees were evacuated into the chaotic streets of lower Manhattan Tuesday morning. We are grateful that our DRF family has apparently escaped intact, and we extend our thoughts and hearts to the many who were not so fortunate.

All of Manhattan below 14th Street was closed to civilians through at least Wednesday night to facilitate rescue efforts. One trivial consequence of this is that Daily Racing Form has not been able to access its offices to resume normal operations, and thus will be unable to provide the usual full range of editorial and statistical information for Thursday and Friday's racing.

We will be publishing a Thursday print edition in California, Las Vegas and Seattle in which the past performances do not contain Beyer Speed Figures, Tomlinson ratings, Trainer Form statistics and other DRF features. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience, and promise that as soon as lower Manhattan is reopened, DRF will resume publishing at full strength.

We will attempt to keep readers apprised of our status daily through our Internet site at www.drf.com.

We would like to thank the many individuals and organizations through the racing world that have offered their support and assistance in recent days, especially our partners at Equibase Co. We remain committed to informing the racing industry and its customers as we have done for more than a century, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during these extraordinary times.
