Megan's Appeal graduates in Shady Well Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Favored Megan's Appeal ($6) graduated in style at Woodbine Sunday, taking the $164,550 Shady Well Stakes with authority under Simon Husbands.

Megan's Appeal won the five and a half-furlong dash for Canadian-bred juvenile fillies by seven and a quarter lengths after helping to set moderate fractions. Boozin Blonde closed three-wide to end up second, while Dana's Lucky Lady finished another three-quarters of a length back in third after mounting a four-wide rally.

The final time of 1:05.73 seconds was well off Bodust's stakes record of 1:04.

"She left the gate running," said Husbands. "She was nice and relaxed going to the half-mile pole, and picked it up nicely down the lane. She does everything perfectly."

Megan's Appeal, who was beaten a nose in her only other start, earned $98,730 for Fire Rock Stable and trainer Kevin Attard.
