The 2018 advertised fees for Darley’s U.S. stallion roster have been revealed, with cornerstone sire Medaglia d’Oro entering rarified air at $200,000. The son of El Prado stood at Darley’s Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky., for $150,000 in 2017. Just two North American stallions met or exceeded the $200,000 threshold last year, Gainesway’s Tapit and Claiborne Farm’s War Front. Medaglia d’Oro’s runners are led in 2017 by Grade 1 winner and champion Songbird, leading Breeders’ Cup Juvenile contender Bolt d’Oro, Breeders’ Cup Distaff contender Elate, and fellow Grade 1 winners New Money Honey and Dickinson. Astern, an Australian Group 1-winning son of Medaglia d’Oro, will make his Northern Hemisphere debut in 2018, standing for an advertised fee of $15,000. He is currently standing his first Southern Hemisphere season at Darley’s Australian base. “Medaglia d’Oro has enjoyed his best year ever, with five Grade 1 winners in 2017 and the potential for a big Breeders’ Cup,” said Darren Fox, sales manager of Darley in America. “It’s a very exciting time to be adding his top-rated son Astern to our roster.”  Also standing for an increased fee in 2018 is Street Boss, who will be advertised at $20,000 after previously being set at $17,500. The Street Cry horse is led this year by Grade 3 winner Hence and Australian Group 2 winner Street Rapper. Bernardini will stand for $85,000, down from $100,000 during the past season. His top runners this season include Grade 1 winner Takaful, Grade 2 winner Imperative, and Grade 3 winner Watershed. Hard Spun had his fee reduced to $40,000 from $45,000, while Street Sense will stand for $35,000 after previously being set at $45,000. Alpha will once again reside at Sequel Stallions in Hudson, N.Y., standing this year for $5,000 after being advertised at $7,500 in 2017. The son of Bernardini’s first foals are yearlings of 2017.
