Meaningful wins for Allen, Doser

Trainer Ronnie Allen and jockey Mary Doser celebrated milestone wins this past week.

Allen saddled Valley Loot to win the $50,000 Regret Stakes for his 1,000th career win. His daughter Kimberly owns the Michigan-bred filly, who led all the way, and Allen's son, Mike, was aboard for the win.

Doser won three races Monday, giving her 1,500 for her career. After her winning ride astride Research Rocks in the seventh race, she was joined in the paddock by her fellow riders to mark the occasion. She returned Tuesday and again scored three times. She is tied for leading rider with Freddie Mata with 23 wins.

Born to Tango, owned by Millennium Farms and trained by Laura Jackson, rallied seven wide to win Tuesday's $50,000 Lansing Stakes by a half-length. Under Natividad Alcala, the Service Stripe colt had to survive an objection before being declared the winner. Born to Tango returned $85. Oberalp was second and Al's Best Man was third in the field of 10. Al's Best Man paid $185.20 to show.

* Great Lakes horsemen raised $6,033 at a golf outing and auction for Amy Lelito, the daughter of trainer Tim Lelito. Amy Lelito and her family have suffered health problems and recently lost their house in a fire.
