MEADOWLANDS HARNESS: Live Video, PPs, News, analysis every race day>>

MEET STATS: 81 - 261 / $620.80

Best Bet: RUB THING (10th)   Spot Play: MAJOR HERBIE (5th)

Race 1

(9) REI OF SUNSHINE saved too much ground and had no shot when clear. New driver this week could bring a more aggressive style. (1) VANITY FAIREST has qualified well for a barn that is having a good meet. (2) CANT STOP ME NOW wasn’t bad from post 10 last time; more now? (4) HEAVENS BETTERHALF is a well-bred half-brother to superstar Rock N Roll Heaven.

Race 2

(4) SOUTH JERSEY HONEY picks up a catch-driver and moves into a new barn, which had some success last year and did well in the late 1990’s. (10) HABANERO is probably faster than these and certainly has more class. That said, early speed is his weak spot and post 10 hurts. (1) AMERICAN HOT ROD drops down and should show more.

Race 3

(2) TEARFUL REUNION was a killer at the 1 ½ mile distance and sticks out here on current form. (10) BIG BAM RAY lures Tetrick. This Pompano shipper has early speed. (6) SWINGING GRIN returned from a break with a decent effort.

Race 4

(6) SUNSHINE GLIDE is one of the few signed on without a break in her recent PP lines. I like the fact that she has early speed to avoid trouble and Sears in the bike. (2) MISTYLAKE HANOVER makes only her second career start. If she trots, she has a shot. (7) FEEGEE made her first start for trainer Joe Hanney in the recent qualifier and raced well; maybe. (4) NITROGLIDE HANOVER was okay in her debut at Dover.

Race 5

(7) MAJOR HERBIE took a tour of the track in his first start for Julie Miller. This spot is much easier and the post is a bit better. I’d be surprised if we didn’t see a much better effort. (5) GROOM HANOVER makes his 4-year-old debut for the Toscano barn. Looks like there is some talent here. (10) FOUNTAINBLEAU VOLO might have a lot of horses to pass in the lane but certainly is fast enough to blow by these. (6) LIVE JAZZ has been facing some tough conditioned foes at Yonkers. (2) HES SPOOKY attempts to face tougher after a solid 2011 season.

Race 6

This looks like the easier division of the Horse & Groom. (3) CAMERON CHIP has been tackling foes that would be 3-5 in this spot; clear edge. (2) DEFINITELY MAMIE gets away from Open company at Yonkers; main danger. (7) TOBER didn’t care for the sloppy track last time. I’ll toss that effort.

Race 7

(4) MMS LUCKY BOY made his Erv Miller barn debut and grinded to an easy win in the slop. Interesting that David Miller chose elsewhere but I’m staying on board. (7) MARCUS BI warmed up for this spot by chasing much better foes. He’s the one to beat. (6) ICE MACHINE has some ability; worth using. (8) SMOKN MUSCLES had a nice 3-year-old campaign.

Race 8

(4) RUSTYS MARTINI was racing well at Monticello and doesn’t face much tougher tonight. The switch to Sears is a big one. (7) QUIET CAMMILE kept up nicely in the AM versus JK Owhatanite, who already came back to win last week. (8) KITTYS PRO GIRL enters a new barn; maybe.

Race 9

(9) QUANTUM CONFIDENT hails from a barn that quietly showed a bit of life last week. This is a dead field on paper and it is not so farfetched to think this guy can step up. (5) ARMOURS BROTHER qualified well and did earn more than any of these last year. (2) BIG SKY ANGELINA is capable when she feels like trotting.

Race 10

(5) RUB THING raced well in her first start up front Pompano. This spot is much, much easier. (3) GERRIES MADISON might have needed last week’s start after missing a few weeks. (10) GORDYS FILLY YENTA drops down.
