Meadowlands: Thursday 2/28 Analysis

Race 1 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $35,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 39 - 188 / $222.60    BEST BETS: 7 - 16 / $30.20

Race 1

(3) CHEYENNE MIRIAM was very sharp last week and seems like one to follow. (7) MS CAILA J FRA has some talent but needs to put it all together. (6) DREAMING ALIINA chased the top choice last time. If she learned from that effort she has a shot.

Race 2

(2) SCORPION MOON looks abysmal on paper but has been keeping much better company than the rest of these. I’m going to roll the dice and hope that class shows. (3) TREMENDOUS HIT is a veteran that is more than capable of getting the job done. (1) B L CLASS ACT & (1A) JEDRIK HANOVER look like a formidable entry but have both drawn outside.

Race 3

(6) WILD SMILE seems to have found himself as a 3-year-old and will probably be overlooked a bit coming in from Freehold without a top catch-driver. Let’s see what he has under the hood. (5) CORLEONE HALL had no chance in his career debut after chasing a very slow half. A step forward puts him right with this bunch. (2) MOREY has the best credentials on paper but has lost me until he wins one.

Race 4

(7) LAGUNA BEACH just couldn’t handle some hard-hitters in the Survivor series. Plus this barn was a bit cold last week. Dropping back in for $10k, I think we’ll see much more. (10) ALBION would probably be a heavy chalk from an inside post; must use. (3) TAMAYO should be helped by the improved post.

Race 5

(4) AX MAN finally minded his manners behind the gate and turned in a big effort. He actually would have finished closer to the leader with clearance. (3) EMILY DO is a bit of a head case but very capable of stepping up with a big mile. (9) CHOCOHOLIC gets away from tough ones in the Singer Memorial.

Race 6

(1) SLEAZY DOES IT has been keeping me waiting for that elusive win. She drops again tonight and gets the hottest hands in the business to steer the ship. I’ll bite one last time. (3) MATTS SMOKIN LIL had tons of traffic and didn’t get to stretch her legs until it was too late. She is sharp now and could upset. (2) RUNAWAY TRAY keeps dropping in search of some form.

Race 7

(1) CORKY BARAN hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire but finally reaches the basement condition. I’m concerned that Campbell picked off for (3) COME ON RIDGE, but this really looks like the perfect spot for this veteran 10-year-old. The latter hasn’t been able to get the extra sixteenth and now cuts back to the mile distance. (4) STONEBRIDGE ROCKET raced pretty well from post 10 on the drop in class.

Race 8

(9) BOINGA stays in the same class but actually faced a much tougher C-1 class last time. If she can make the front without too much hassle, watch out. (5) CANADIAN WILDCAT put in a decent effort from post 10 in his first try here. (3) THROUGH THE NIGHT has two solid effort in his last three.

Race 9

I honestly have no opinion here. Rather than come up with some farfetched reason why I like these horses, (3) HES A BEACHBOY & (5) BEWARE OF DARKNESS will be my top two simply on a Gingras/Tetrick call. (7) DRAGON KING flashed speed and raced pretty well last time.

Race 10

(1) CAROLSTERN comes with the uncertainty of consecutive scratch lines but who else are you going to sic your teeth into here? (5) CAMMI PLACE drops down and looks like a good fit. (4) JOYFUL YEARS just scored at this level last time.
