Spot Play: RELENTLESS DREAMER (7th)

Race 1

(3) INVESTOR VOLO kept his act together in his first start with hobbles, (7) DOT DOT DOT DASH got the jump on him last time but ‘Investor’ should be more aggressive this week. The latter flashed good trot at both ends of the mile while beating up on a dull group. (8) DAWNING DREAM qualified well here and seems to move up on the big track; Tetrick drives.

Race 2

(7) PERFECT ALLIANCE has been a killer this year and I simply can’t look past him. (3) RAY HALL raced well from the back but needs to pick up his game to beat the top choice. (1) YOU ROCK MY WORLD has some speed and the inside to work with this week.

Race 3

(6) SIXTEEN MIKES has some breaking issues but also enough talent to menace when he minds his manners. This isn’t an easy spot but the price should be right. (1A) TIME TO QUIT is clearly the one to beat, but with the outside draw I wouldn’t be shocked if he got an easy trip ahead of the final. (3) CLEMENTINE DREAM is certainly a trip threat. (5) CAJOLE HANOVER is impossible to figure.

RACE 4

(8) TAKE THE MONEY looked okay as a 2-year-old and now makes her first sophomore start. Team Miller filly comes off a sneaky good qualifier and faces a blank bunch. (5) STIRLING BULLET hasn’t won since 2012 and sports only one career win in 21 starts. That said, he did show some improvement in a recent qualifier. (3) ABBIESGOTATTITUDE was stuck outside in both local starts. I expect a big effort in this spot and will be using her on most tickets.

RACE 5

(3) MCKENZIES STAR finds herself in a new barn and gets to drop in class; interesting angles. (2) PROSPECT finished with some pace most recently. (1) JC MIK MAC JILLIO arrives from The Meadows with good early speed and Gingras in the bike.

Race 6

(1) OVER AND OUT won’t find a much easier field at the Meadowlands. The inside post this week should make a difference. (2) SPECTATOR K has early zip and can step up from time to time. (4) KINGS CAVALIER & (5) R SAM have had past success here.

Race 7

(4) RELENTLESS DREAMER is a dead closer that is always tough to select on top. That said, he drew well enough to stay in close order and should be able to blow past this group late. (5) I WANNA GO FAST was stuck on the rim last time. This guy seems to be feeling pretty good now. (1) REDNECK OUTLAW drops down to the level of his last win.

Race 8

(5) PAISLEY raced well in his first start for this barn and I’m expecting another small step forward. (3) MR FENWICK ran into a tough foe last week; big chance. (6) BLUEBIRD KIDSQUEEN has been ultra-consistent this year.

Race 9

(9) FLIPPER J showed good late pace from an impossible spot for a barn that is having a decent year. I think we might see some speed this week. (3) SENOR GRANDE was a good second at this level last week. (5) HIGHLAND TERRIFIC & (4) AIRBURST HANOVER both look like players given the right trip.

Race 10

(8) SUBLIMINAL HANOVER drops down for a decent barn and faces a formless field. (10) VICTORYDAZE WILWIN also drops down but is coming off two awful tries; mixed feelings. (3) STAR CHASER completes the class-dropping top three. This guy is fast early but has been slow late.

Race 11

(2) TERROR HIGH was too far back last time. The Bionic Man should have him in prime position this week. (4) LETTHEROCKBEGIN was used too hard last time. (7) YES YOUR MATTJESTY has some form but still needs a smooth trip. (6) THE GREEN KNIGHT came up flat late recently but could improve in his third start of the year.
