Somestarsomewhere was expected to go off the favorite in the Governor's Cup.

Expected morning line favorite in the $534,500 Governor’s Cup at the Meadowlands on Saturday, Somestarsomewhere, has been scratched from the final due to a minor injury according to trainer Ron Burke.

“He pulled a curb training,” said Burke, who added that the horse would be fine for his 3-year-old season. “Even if I had a couple of weeks or 10 days, we could get him ready for this race, but with a horse like this, I’m not going to take a chance and race him.”

Somestarsomewhere finishes his 2-year-old campaign with four wins in 10 starts and $137,137 in earnings. He finished third in the Breeders Crown at Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs last month.

Burke remains represented in the Governor’s Cup by Carracci Hanover and J K Endofanera.

“Carracci should be much better with Lasix added and Endofanera just keeps getting better every time he goes behind the gate,” said Burke.

Yannick Gingras, who was supposed to drive Somestarsomewhere, will handle the lines behind Carracci Hanover. Brian Sears drives J K Endofanera.

The Governor’s Cup is slated as race 8 on a 13-race stakes-laden Meadowlands program that kicks off at 7:15 pm.
